Steaming…

We stopped at Brinchang, Cameron Highlands for lunch…

Brinchang, Cameron Highlands

This reminded me of Sibu where in one block of shophouses, you may get to see one or two or more coffee shops and restaurants…

…and many of them would be as crowded as this one…

Thank goodness, we had made up our minds to have steamboat, so we did not have to join in that tight squeeze.

We stopped by this one…

…for our steamboat lunch, right in the middle of the afternoon. It was really nice having that in the cool, comfortable weather of the highlands.

Nope, my missus was not bored nor did she fall asleep, waiting for the soup to boil…

In fact, the authentic charcoal steamboat gets to boil a lot faster than the electric ones that we usually use at home – we did not even have to cover it…and we had to keep putting things in to keep it from boiling too vigorously. The long tall funnel acts as a chimney so that the smoke would come out high up and not get into the the faces of everybody seated around it.

We had this…

…and also this…

…and more…and we all ate till we were really filled to the brim with all that, plus the very sweet and tasty free-flow soup…

But that did not stop us from going for some heavenly desserts. Watch out for those in the next post!
