No choice…

It’s actually the same as those people in the peninsula…especially the ones from Sarawak. Whenever they are craving for the local favourites like our kampua noodles or kolo mee or Sarawak laksa, they may have to make do with the pale imitations that they may find around where they are.

Similarly, whenever we happen to think of having things like KL Hokkien mee

or Chinese fried carrot cake aka koey kah

…we will just have to settle for the not-really-nice ones that we may find here.

The Hokkien mee that I had was not bad but I would not be craving for it, that’s for sure…plus I thought there was a bit too much msg in it. My daughter liked the carrot cake though.

My missus had the mee mamak

…which she said was quite good. I wouldn’t know as I did not try it.

Whatever it is, we will be in Penang by evening today…so you can bet your bottom dollar that we will be going round the island feasting on all the local delicacies that we cannot find here in Sibu.

Anyway, moving on from there, I mentioned in my previous post that my friend, Jimmy, was in town and other than the birthday present he gave me, he also brought with him one whole roast duck…

…so I called our friends to join us for lunch.

I also cooked this plate of chilli udang galah (freshwater prawns)…

…and everybody loved it so much that it was all gone in a jiffy – now you see it, now you don’t! LOL!!! I may feature that again and share the recipe with everybody…should I happen to cook it another time.

Well, like I said earlier, I would be away in Penang…so I’m not sure right now whether I would have the time to update my blog. If not, do stick around – I should be back in a week or so. Take care all…
