My daughter and I went to the Sibu Bus Terminal Kopitiam as she saw my post on the mixed grill I had and she wanted to have that. However, when we got there, she changed her mind and wanted the chicken chop (RM7.50) instead…
She let me try a bit and I would say that it was pretty good. She loved the coleslaw which she said was very nice and a lot better than what they have at those fast-food joints.
She also wanted the salad sotong (RM5.00)…
…which did not look very nice but we changed our minds the moment we ate it. The batter was very well done – nice and crispy and very tasty.
We also ordered the stuffed yew char koi (RM3.00)…
…which was something worth having too.
I ordered the Rojak Udin with egg (RM4.00)…
…but it was not quite to my satisfaction and definitely a long way from from what Kassim used to dish out when he was around in Sibu.
Well, that was lunch that day…and for breakfast, we went to Sungai Merah for the meat porridge special (RM2.50)…
Do not be deceived by the photograph though – it was just that my daughter’s not a fan of those innards…so she gave me all that she had in her bowl and I gave her my minced pork. You would not get something like this should you happen to drop by and order the same.
Now, let’s see what else we have had…..
UPDATE:
Hey! It’s snowing!!! Hope that may help get everybody into the right mood for the season of love, peace and joy…
mayonise overload!!!!oohhhh torture overload…..!!! sure cleff will go crazy see the sotong. wa its look yummy >.<
i want to go find porridge too. huhuhu.. look good. oh i dun love the innard too. porridge with minced meat and the century egg is heaven!
You’re just like my daughter. Had porridge again yesterday…top of Sibu Central Market – she only wanted minced meat plus century egg. Ya…actually, can just give chilli sauce or some homemade chilli would be nice – not everything mayo like that.
You mean the porridge cost you Rm2.50 onli? With all the yummy stuff inside? Gosh, that’s dirt cheap. here in KL… plain porridge cost you at least Rm3.00 per claypot bowl. And the one I usually buy cost me RM4.00. And it’s just shredded chicken+salted eggs porridge. But den again, I dun mind frequenting that uncle’s stall. He’s a nice guy. Very polite and speaks good English too. Always address me as Miss and also always give me free yu tiao sticks to go with his porridge. LOL.
Sibu…small town bah! Too expensive and nobody eats, then tutup kedai liao! KL people, all kaya raya one what… 😉
what rm2.50????????? faINT~~~ here the minced meat century egg porridge cost me rm3.00. but got one stall, plain porridge with chicken rm4.90. not bad lar, lot of chicken. but those rm2.50 definitely a steal. how can he/she survive selling it at rm2.50???
Sibu small town mah…things not so expensive, got money also nothing to spend on…so most things here are cheaper lor! Like kampua noodles – only RM2.20 with meat! Yum!!! 😉
ceh. bintangor oso rm2.20. LOL! hehehehe! i miss sarawak. sobs too bad not going home. miss duck soup chicken soup babi soup.. huaaaa. my mum rajin boil soup if i go home. but ask me cook other nia. miss mummy 😦
Foochow cuisine…a lot of very nice soups with ginger…or those Chinese herbs. Nice! Yalor…Bintangor, smaller than Sibu – may evenbe cheaper…and sometimes, like the kampua – so much…macam mountain on the plate. I like!!! Hehehehehe!!!! 😀
OMG! Sotong! Holy crap, looks sinful. Haihh… anybody teman me makan again this Sat/Sun? Jom… who wan makan wif me? I want to makan sotong tepung again. Who teman me??? Kat? Cyn? Mandy? Zee? Uh… anybody?
ps: Good Lord, these days if I tarak comment in the morning in ur blog, ppl will start to worry about me and ask me questions. They even wonder if I’m still alive. *pengsan* First Kat, den Goldflower… =.=
Yalor…I was also wondering the same thing yesterday – MIA the whole day… Maybe merajuk, angry with me…dun wanna come and komen anymore. 😦 Hehehehehehehe….Drool! Drool!
hahahah! so u must come here every morning or else people start worrying. 😛
Yalor… Before, when I did not have a post for a day, all the smses started coming in. They thought this old man dies already or what… The Chinese say – bad people, live long life.Muahahahaha!!! 😉
*pengsan* No lah… nasty headache… makan-ed some ‘poison’ den konk out the whole damn day. Had a few missed calls from my dad who also wondered if I’ve gone to heaven (or hell for that matter LOL!). *FAINT*
What poison you took…so good, can conked out all day one. People say some flu meds will be drowsy, I took double dosage also the same – not sleepy at all. Tsk! Tsk! You kah? Definitely not heaven lah… Muahahahaha!!!!! 😀
Hahahaha… Kat’s husband bought me some sort of jamu-ubat from Indonesia not long ago. It’s called Antagin. For buang angin and also headache…contains all sort of herbs+honey. I took that… den pengsan for more than 12 hours. Strange, yunno… when I took panadol, all those… even if double dose… ntg happen. Still can be wide awake and the headache still duzzin go away… but took that stuff he kasi me…wahhh… really dahsyat. Drop dead… hahaha! And the headache gone when I woke up! Power!
(yeah, definitely not heaven… LMAO)
Ya…I like these traditional alternatives – more effective. Like Panadol – relieves only, doesn’t cure. I usually use natural or Chinese herbal treatments.
here…..the mayo chic …remember? Makan with Ling one.
Dun wanna friend cikgu liaooooo…making me drooolllll
Nice…but would rather have something else other than the mayo. Like the chicken at Muar Restaurant – with BBQ sauce…so much nicer with that! Hehehehehe…drool…drool! 😀
Ps: Goldflower… cis… macamlah tak kenal Cikgu. I bet he purposely put up the yummylicious sotong goreng just to make me drool. He know I gila sotong wan! Ishhh… evil, evil man!
Muahahahahaha!!! *evil laugh! Must go look for more sotong dishes to share now! 😀
hahaha. i not so gila sotong. gila prawn only. ish.. must be careful if got prawn post. my boyfriend will come back in few day and promise cook prawn for me. yayyyyyyyyyy!
Going to where you are studying kah? Being SIN dollars – soooooo kaya! Wink! Wink! LOL!!!
Enjoy it while it lasts girl. Once you got married, u’d be doing all the dirty deeds! LMAO!
Not necessarily! Look at me…. Sobs! Sobs! Bwahuhuhuhuhuhu!!!! 😦
lol cleff! i think maybe my future husband is as nice as cikgu *wink*
if he dare to misbehave, i will rattan him. hahahaha
Wah! So garang this girlfriend. If I were him, I would run away liao lor… Must sayang-sayang one… 😉
@cikgu: most of his money go to his family, treating his brother. sick. so pity. so no money oso lah. hehehe. thats why i ask him cook for me instead of eating outside. eat out cost a lot especially if seafood.:(
Such a nice brother, I’m sure he’ll make a good husband…and you,s o understanding – sure will be a good wife too. 😉
*HORRIFIED* more sotong dishes? Aiyoyoyoyo! I’m done for! LOL!
Must go back to yesterday’s cafe – sotong set lunch…RM8.90! Yum!!! 😉
*sobs* who wan go makan wif me this coming weekend? Sobs… jom lahhh!!!
I thought Cyn giving you stuff (AGAIN!!!). I kepo kepo…saw that on Facebook. Muahahahaha!!!! 😀
jom bring me makan. i hv last paper 2.30pm today. hahaha. free liao
You next state, so far from KL…how? Going to KL with your bf kah? Then Cleff and gang can take you round and round makan-makan the best in town… 😉
cikgu…sotong and pork lOL
Hah!!! Just had something this morning with my daughter for brunch…with sotong and prawns. But my scheduled posts lined up till next week – so in the meantime, can relax. No need to get excited. LOL!!!
@Cikgu… hahaha… yalorr… she wanna sumbat me those roti she made in her class. LOL… well, I’m not gonna say no. Hahaha… after all… I eat bread all the time…. and my anak tarak makan nasi wan. Just eat bread and noodles. She said she see roti these days oso sked liao. Made too much, she said. LOL!
Wish I were in KL too. Btw, these homemade bread so much better than those in the bakeries. They use a whole lot of preservatives – bad for health!!! If Cyn makes for sale, better buy from her…
Ooo… those bread are not for sale punya. So far Cyn oni bake cookies and cakes and sell em. Those bread… she said she brought back from her cooking class. LOL… brought a whole bunch of em back everyday, fresh from her class and nobody is eating em. She was telling us on our last makan session on how horrified she is to see bread these days… and her misadventures in her class. Seii lorr… now she’s gonna feed me with her bread. Her cookies oredi got me hooked. Once makan-ed her cookies, can never have enuff… i hope it won’t be the same with her bread. Else… cham lorr!
Homemade’s the best, of course…best ingredients and no preservatives and all those stuff that they add. You really cham lor…eating all of Cyn’s goodies – in the end, all that you buy outside is never good enough for you…!
Yeeer…everything also mayo…
Yalor…whatever happened to homemade chilli dips…like what they give with the cucur udang at the kampung stalls? I would very much prefer that with the fried stuff…or even bottled chilli sauce also ok. 😦
Clare… u dun like mayo kah? Sedap leh!
Me not crazy over mayo either – would prefer to make my own salad dressing…or add a bit of tomato sauce to the mayo plus a bit of sugar – something like thousand island, much nicer…or add condensed milk and crushed peanut (cake)… Many ways to have that that are much nicer!
Hmm.. spoiling the princess again. You gave her all the pork and ate the innards. I thought the white stuff on the yew char koi was icing but then I saw it on the chicken too, so not icing? I thought it was foochow style iced donuts. Where’s this place in Sungei Merah?
Nope…Sibu bus terminal food court. Quite a number of nice stuff there – worth dropping by.
I meant the porridge place. You said in Sungei Merah.
Ah yes! The coffee shop that serves your favourite coffee – I like the porridge there best…among those that I’ve tried in Sibu.
Now, i know Arthur, next time if i ever go to Sibu, i will present you a journal comprises all the food joints you had recommended in your blog, then you are to take me to savor each and everyone of them… then i guess i will have to stay in Sibu for a whole one month… one month cukup ka?
No problem at all. Come on over with your missus and your boys and I’ll take you all to eat all the nice things here, cannot find in KL one. Can stay at my house – free lodging, free food, free transport, free tours…where to find this kind of holiday? Melissa’s been back over two weeks now…and we are still going round and round to eat this and that! Never realised that there are so many things to eat here…
Just look at the mayo!! They made the food so attractive… I think i cannot resist the sotong among all the food displayed above.. gosh..how i wish fried food is as healthy as steamed food!!
You like mayo…? I’m not crazy about it. Ya…my daughter loves fried stuff even though she may end up getting sore throat. Best if eaten hot!
I am back here to comment after missing 4 days in blogsphere. hahahhahahhahahhaha
At first i thought something wrong with my eyes today, how come i see SNOW in the pictures! LOL!!! Already in Christmas mood? hahahhaha
Sotong salad look very good!! I like. I like the porridge too, i don’t mind my porridge with liver, but not other innards. 🙂 Nice nice!!
This one’s from Sg Merah…near your mum’s house. Ya…it has started snowing (automatic on wordpress)…and will go on till January 4th. Hope that gets everybody in the mood. LOL!!!
eee… i think there is an overdose of mayonaise sauce. too much la! I wouldn’t like too much of mayonaise on my food.
Me neither. My first time eating those things at that place – next time I go there, I know what to tell them already… 😉
@Kat…the chicken with apple salad…LOL!! not bad though.
Porridge…ahh tonite i m going to cook porridge for dinner. Rice is fattening…LOL!!!!!
Porridge is just one teaspoon of rice with lots and lots of water. Later, go toilet…all gone. LOL!!! Chicken with apple? Sounds good? With mayo, I guess…since you say it’s a salad?
eeuu..mayonise in almost every dish?! Surely there must be other nice dressings…not a fan of mayonise or thousand island or any dressings of that sort. Thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when I saw the snowflakes on the photos. Nice touch, ho ho ho.
Hahahahaha!!! WordPress has the snowflakes every year… Nice touch indeed! I’m ok with mayo as it is…but I will usually add this and that and make my own original dressing that would be much nicer.
those foods makes me hungry yum yum yum
for sure i’ll be eating after this lol
im craving 🙂
Craving? I thought only pregnant ladies have cravings? Muahahahaha!!! Glad you like the look of the food… 😉
My kind of food…except the liver and whatever is hidden inside the pig!!!Eh…the mayo lorry terbalik kah at Sibu…the shop owner go and collect a few barrels of free mayo is it?…lol.
Hahahahahahaha!!! From the look of it, you would think that it falls down from the sky and you can just go out with a bucket and collect all you want! Oooo…then you will not like kuih chap – all the innards. Yum! Yum!!!
Oh its snowing lovely..yummy rojak love it..the meat porridge special at only
RM2.50?
Yup…this is Sibu! Cheap and nice… 😉
Rojak Udin move there d? No more at Up2U?
The hubby. Dunno how true but I heard the couple already broke up – the wife is running the original stall at the former Up2U. Up2U has now moved…to somewhere opposite the public library.
Lol! Only when I saw the comments that there is snow on your blog that I just realised there is flakes falling down n I tot why my computer got dandruff….haha!
Put on your glasses. Sure it isn’t your dandruff flying all over in front of your monitor? LOL!!! 😀
hahaha! dandruff!
The sotong thing looks good, but not too keen on all the other stuff covered in squiggly mayonnaise.
I know…you’re not a fan of mayo. Really nice – loved the batter…next time, I must remember to tell them that I don’t want the mayo…but for the sotong, at least it was given separately and not all over the thing!
The chicken chop is cheap, Sg cost about SGD5.50.
So cheap there? Wow!!! Don’t convert….you people earn big money, so relatively, it is a whole lot cheaper than RM7.50 here.
looks sinfully glorious. LOL. i miss sarawak food…
Drop by Sibu when you go back to Miri. Home for Chinese New Year?
im glad melissa like the food at the Bus terminal kopitiam. i like the porridge at sungei merah….very tasty…i remember i had two bowls for breakfast once hehehehehhe cheers folks!
LOL!!! Patut lah…so bulat! 😀
first of all.. i love the snowy effect of your layout…. it makes me feel the Christmas is really near….
i love the chicken fillet, but not too much with Mayonnaise…I prefer Catsup hehe
The Rojak Udin reminds me of my Grandma’s specialty which is the Pancit Palabok…
Another one not crazy about mayo. Wonder why the eateries love to use it when most people don’t like it… The rojak udin is something like gado-gado in Indonesia…or the Indian pasembur, dunno if there’s anything similar in the Philippines.
Wah, chicken chop 7.50 so cheap leh!
Cheap kah? If I remember correctly, it’s cheaper (and nicer) in Sg Petani…at some hawker centre that my daughter went to…
