The only one…

Other than the bloggers that I met for the first time on my first night in KL, I also got to meet another one the following day. He said that he had never gone out of his way to meet his fellow-bloggers before, so I was the first…and the only one.

I got in touch with him via Facebook and he smsed me saying that he would be in the city, so we agreed to meet for lunch. It certainly was a privilege and my pleasure to meet Ken

Ken of

He did not want anything fancy, so we went to Jalan Alor and I ordered from an old man, a fellow-Foochow originally from Sitiawan, Perak. I had the pork soup noodles (RM5.00)…

Jalan Alor KL - pork soup noodles

…and it was really very nice! So far, I have not had anything really great at Jalan Alor but this one’s worth dropping by for.

I also had the fried kway teow (flat rice noodles) with prawns and clams (RM5.00) from the man’s other stall at that same shop…

Jalan Alor KL - fried kway teow

…and it was good too. The servings were quite huge though, so I was not able to finish (…and I had a heavy breakfast as well – watch out for the post)…and besides, I didn’t want to shock Ken, definitely not at our first meeting. Muahahahaha!!!!

Ken had the chap fan (mixed rice)

…and he seemed to like those Chinese sausages a lot. LOL!!!

We…or at least, I had a good time chatting and getting to know one another, so thanks so much, Ken, for taking the trouble and the time off to see me. Hope to see you again sometime…

  1. Eh? This is kenwooi. His blog post usually funny, and I’m usually rendered speechless. LOL!

ps: Lapcheong ah? I know whose lapcheong is the best… kakakakak…. Annie, oh Annie… u remember Cikgu’s postal add rite? LOL!

Yes, I enjoy reading his blog – interesting, creative and often witty. Oh no! Oh no! Don’t put ideas into Annie’s head – her mum is going to KL end of this month – very shy already…all the time going to the mum’s house to collect the things that Annie sends. And I did not bring anything for her when I went to KL – didn’t even get to meet her even… 😦

  2. Eh, Cikgu, today 2 entries? LOL… Oooo… Melissa looks chubbier and prettier in the previous entry. πŸ˜€ Must be all the lembu lembu in NZ making her look so radiant. Yes, she looks more like a teacher now. πŸ˜€

Oops! Must have typed the wrong date on the schedule… Now I’ll have to get to work quickly on the next post (for tomorrow) lor… Aarrrrggghhhhhh!!!!

  3. Oo I havent meet up with any bloggers yet. Cant wait for u to belanja, wahaha.

Can’t wait for you to come back…and then, I can belanja you – no problem at all. πŸ˜‰

  4. The pork soup looks grEAT!

It was grEAT indeed… Later that afternoon, my friend was telling me about this “old guy at Jalan Alor” and saying that what he sells are nice – must be this same one. What I had were pretty good – haven’t had anything that I like along Jalan Alor for a long while now… πŸ™‚

  5. Absolutely!, Everything looks grEAT! I like that – gr+EAT. Everything looks really good, esp the Foochow soup. That’s what I like about KL, the food is fantastic. I usually stay around the Sungei W area for a night and I always look forward to the roti telor and coffee in the mamak place behind the Coronade. Even the rats scurrying around adds to the ambience.

You stay at the Coronade? Ooooo…expensive! LOL!!! Ya…walk straight ahead and you’ll get to a covered area with all the hawker stalls (somewhere behind Starhill). Dunno if it’s still there. They had some very nice stuff there… I used to go and eat there but these days, I’m too lazy to walk all the way… πŸ˜‰

  6. Hahaha..this face is familiar. One friendly fella. Famous but not stuck up.

Yes, I’ve seen the photos, thanks. Yet to try and download them… Will choose and use one of these days. Ya…ya…go to Penang! I’ll be there 2nd week of December – we can go jalan2 cari makan… Yum! Yum!

  7. Yes, Ken went to KL, heard it from my son.. hahaha.. he is a real established blogger..featured in Nuffnang as “blogger of the month”…. femes one.. so who else did u meet up with?

That’s about all – the mummy-bloggers the night before and Ken. Everybody else seemed to be so busy, just could not make it. 😦

  8. Welcome home Melissa. Can see Arthur so HAPPY πŸ™‚ Yup, Melissa has grown from the last time I saw her in Ipoh. Now more chubbier and glowing πŸ™‚ NZ definitely has done her good. Surely dad has something cooking up for her from the kitchen and I look forward to reading what you have cooked for Melissa πŸ™‚

Yes, so happy to have her home…and she’s happy to be back too. Been going out to eat all the things she love, haven’t started cooking yet. Will get down to that eventually…

  9. The pork soup noodles really looks good. Gee…ever since got back from HK, i really miss all these foods…hungry***

Yes, it was really good. The next time I go to KL again, I certainly would go there again to eat that… The char kway teow was nice…but there are nice ones elsewhere also – I can have my fill of that when I go to Penang next month.

  10. So nice to meet up with fellow blogger and Fb friend! I have yet try anything at Jalan alor leh~! must go this weekend then!^-^ Thanks for sharing ya!

    Have a nice day!

Well, no many stalls are open during lunch time – more for breakfast/brunch…and a lot more by evening/night. So far, I did not have anything that I liked – but this one’s good.

  11. You finally met Ken!
Did you have a good time?
Did you get him home before 9 o’clock?

Yes, of course. Always nice to make new friends…and of course, we had a good time – you know me lah…so friendly, so easy to get along with, so comfortable to be around with etc…etc…etc… Muahahahaha!!!! Oh? You mean like everytime we went out for dinner, I would get you back to your hotel by 9 o’clock – like all good boys? Well, we went out for lunch…so no curfew hours! Hehehehehehe!!!! πŸ˜‰

    1. Bwhahahahaha… cis… with us oso u cabut so fast… before 10 oredi cabut….aiyaa… I am auntie liao, dun nid curfew… why u cabut so fast… still wanna makan and yak! LOL!

Got kids mah! And kucing said they would not want to stay late as they had a long drive to KT the next day…and I memang good boy one – always go back home early, go to sleep early. Hehehehehehe!!!!

  12. Ah, so you met up with a lot of blogger friends ! Looks like you really had fun πŸ™‚

And a warm welcome home to Melissa ! I’m sure she’ll have a wonderful holiday back home. Well deserved one too !

Thanks – she’s certainly happy to be home. Ya, I had fun even though it was just a very short trip…

  13. Wah, short stay also manage to meet up with so many bloggers/friends. ahhahahhahahha

I love chinese sausage too, yum!!!

Yalor…not going to get the chance very often. Hmmmm…I think after having eaten your sausages, I’m not keen on having the usual ones anymore – yours with wine…something like those in Taiwan restaurants. Yum! Yum!

  14. So u met the famous blogger kenwooi! πŸ˜€ sure lotsa fun right?? i think he is kinda fun person from his blog. lol! the chinese sausage looks yum! πŸ˜€

Yup, glad to have the opportunity. He’s not as naughty as in his blog – he’s such a polite, soft-spoken and pleasant boy. You like Chinese sausage too? Hmmmm…you haven’t tasted Annie’s own/homemade ones…nothing else will ever do after that!

  15. Wah..kembang la you famous blogger (from what everybody say) gone out of his way to meet up with you!I like that pork noodle picture very much…nice angle and good lighting.Eh,what is that thingy in the pork noodle which look like there’s veins all over it…yikes!!!

No lah…not famous – just that I always comment in his blog and he sometimes drops by mine – so it was nice that we got to meet and progress from virtual to real-life friends. Oh? I think that’s the pig intestines. Oooo….I love those pig’s innards…and there were so many slices of liver inside. Good thing I did not come down with a gout attack. Eat first, pay later! Muahahahahaha!!!! πŸ˜‰

  16. Glad to see your daughter back! I’m sure you have been missing her terribly for the longest time! And what a way to relive her memory of Malaysian food.. a hi-tea buffet!! πŸ™‚

Ya…she was so happy to do it in style – her first meal back home in Malaysia. Ya…and she said she missed me too even though we would chat on Skype every day – not the same, cannot smell the bau! Muahahahahaha!!!!

  17. you sure travel don’t you. hehehe.

Not as much as I would have loved to…owing to family commitments. 😦

P.S. Your first time here, I see. Welcome…and do drop by again. Will link you in my blogroll.

  18. Is he witty in person?

That you will have to find out yourself if you ever get to meet him. All I would say is – I like him – very nice personality and easy to talk to and get along with. Obviously from a good family background – somebody very well-brought up, that’s for sure.

  19. wah the pork noodle soup looks good leh. I seldom go down into Jalan Alor. Parking is horrendous!

It was really nice…!!! You can park in the area opposite Royale Bintang but it’s quite expensive – RM10, I think…and the further down you go, the cheaper it gets…

  20. Ha, looks like you had a great time in KL..meeting blogger friends and eating, eating, eating! It’s always nice to put a face to the name that you’ve known for some time, rite? Oh, and that’s your dotter returning home for good?

Jalan Alor…lots of stalls during the day and more during the nite till wee hours but you need to know where the good food are. Lots of them (esp. the ones at nite) seem to cater to tourists only – pricey and taste lousy. Glad you found the nice pork soup noodles. Hey, the next time you in KL can contact me,la..

Nope, my daughter’s on her summer hols…and will fly back to NZ in February, after Chinese New Year. Yup…this was the first time I had something that I liked at Jalan Alor. You’re from KL too? Would love to get to meet you sometime – next trip in February perhaps.

  21. hey, it was nice meeting you. catch up with you some other time! πŸ™‚

Sure will – looking forward to that. Or perhaps you may even hop over to Sibu sometime… Would welcome you here anytime.

  22. the sausages looks like chorizo

i love the first dish too… the soup noodles with full of veggies… yum yum

Yup…I love these noodles in clear soup dishes…but this one was really good – would go back there for more! πŸ™‚

  23. ps: I oso very guai guai and innocent… even budak kecik oso bully me… not garang kinda person like in my blog. LOLOL! I am very innocent punya! ( I think I can hear Kat say :Innocent my arse!)

Ooi…yours the previous post, not this one – don’t tumpang galmour here! Muahahahahahaha!!!!! But I don’t think I said you’re innocent…or quai quai! LOL!!! πŸ˜€

  24. Woot! Now that Ken is in KL, we’ll be seeing more of him in person rather than just his blog entries πŸ˜€

Dunno. He comes across as a reserved person – not the type to go out and mingle…but he’s a very nice boy – well, at my age, anybody so young is a boy to me. LOL!!!

  25. har…haha…didn’t find i am in KL lor…

You are? I didn’t know that! Would love to meet you in person. Maybe I can get your hp contact from your Auntie Claire and next time I go to KL (in mid-February), we can arrange to meet each other.

  26. u had 2 different type of food for your breakfast! Got the mood to eat this and that. haha

When it comes to eating, where got no mood one? Hehehehehe!!!! πŸ˜‰
