Home for the holidays…

She’s home for the holidays…

Mel's home for the holidays

My, my little girl has grown, hasn’t she? When we looked at the photo, I commented that she was beginning to look like a teacher.

Well, she arrived on schedule on Saturday night and we put up at one of the airport hotels so that she could have a really good sleep and rest after the very long day from Wellington to Auckland and Auckland to KLIA. She slept through breakfast, so she did not get to go for the buffet at the hotel that morning – I did, but that will be in another post. Hehehehehe…!!!

Instead, for her first meal back home in Malaysia, I took her to relish the sumptuous weekend hi-tea buffet at the hotel. There were so many items to choose from and it is virtually impossible to include everything in one post. The mee mamak certainly looked alluring…

…and if I’m not mistaken, the chicken cordon bleu is the chef’s specialty as there is a promotion going on right now at the hotel…

I did give it a try…and found that it was really good, so I had seconds. My daughter loved the potato croquettes…

…but it did not really turn me on. I wished there was something inside.

The satay was really good and there was a choice of beef…

…or chicken…

…and I’ve always loved ketupat

My daughter had the gado-gado and she said it was very nice…

…but I went for the cakes instead. For that, I’m afraid, you will have to wait till another post as well.

Now, if anyone’s interested, the buffet is only RM30++ per head which is extremely cheap by KL standard…and in NZ currency, it is around NZ$15.00 only. There is no way one can get anything decent at that price there, considering that that’s the price they will have to pay for just one plate of chicken rice.

This was what I had for my first helping…

…but please don’t ask how many helpings Β I had. Ask no questions and I’ll tell no lies… Muahahahahaha!!!!

  6. The buffet is cheap!Just had Lam Mee in a food court here and it was NZ$10.50 with 1 miserable prawn that will take hours to chew and half a hard boiled egg and also a few pieces of chicken meat that taste of saw dust.First time also in NZ where the portion is so small!!
You are right…Melissa does look like a teacher now..lol.Now that I see all the food shown here in this post…craving like mad!!!!

Hahahahaha!!!! This is killing, isn’t it? But be forewarned – there’ll be lots more to come. Yup! We went for chicken rice (with roast chicken plus roast pork) yesterday – RM6.00…and Melissa said it was soooooo….nice, not like what she had in NZ for NZ$11…and that’s over RM26.00…and that was served with plain white rice! Eeeeeyyyyeeewwww!!! πŸ˜€ Watch out for the post – coming soon! πŸ˜‰

  7. Welcome home to your beloved daughter Melissa!

Wait a second, which hotel were you went for the scrumptuos hi tea?! How come it’s so darn cheap~!! I’m drooling right now… LOL! I bet you are pretty busy right now, spending priceless time bonding with your girl, have fun and enjoy to the fullness!^-^

Thanks. That’s at Melting Pot, Concorde Inn KLIA. Real cheap – if Concorde KL (Jalan Sultan Ismail), I remember sometime ago, the buffet breakfast already RM45++ … You’re in NS, aren’t you? Easy for you to go there…so near!

  8. fooooooooooooooood ):

Poor thing!!! Next time you wanna go KL, let me know…and I’ll tag along and take you to the best food around! πŸ˜‰

  9. Aiyor, cake already need a post liao so not surprised how many helpings you had also πŸ˜› RM30 is cheap I must say.

Yalor…especially considering that they have so much in the buffet spread. Cake post coming up…tomorrow.

  10. Wait a second… your NS refered to North Selangor?! (not Negeri Sembilan right) But you are right, it just take me 30 mins to get to KLIA!^-^

I meant Negeri Sembilan – you’re there, right? I guess KLIA is in Selangor but it’s very close to Seremban. Easy to get there.

  11. Boy, I am jealous of the welcome you are giving as a Dad to Mel. My dad would just give me cash…”here, go away and socialise”.

I got to say, Wellington airport really really need to be more International friendly. We only have connection to OZ here. I just don’t get it. I mean Wellington IS the most beautiful city and the capital of NZ. Why isn’t there a flight to singapore or KL or Japan or Dubai or anywhere decent….?….

    I want mee Mamak!

Poor thing! Come…come to KL and I’ll go over there and welcome you…and you can have your mee mamak! LOL!!! Ya…and the Malaysian cheap airline (Air Asia) is flying New Zealand next year, I hear – to Christchurch. Poor Wellington…so neglected.

P.S. Haven’t seen you around for ages. Welcome back…and don’t stay away too long! πŸ˜‰
