Misteri cinta…

In an earlier post, I said that I would be attending the wedding reception of my blogger-friend, Chris, who tied the knot on Saturday, 23rd October. It was held at a leading hotel in town…and as at all wedding banquets, there was the cutting of the wedding cake…

Chris & Winston - cutting the cake

Chris certainly was so very beautiful that night, looking very much like those Filipino stars that we see on television and on film. Here, you can see her and her hubby, Winston, pouring the wine…

The food was quite nice but I only managed to snap a few of the dishes like this steamed fish…

…and the roast chicken…

The fried sotong (squids) was very nice but it came last and by then, everybody was already too full to eat much of it…

I kept my promise to Chris – that I would sing at the dinner and this was the song that I chose. I don’t think I did it very well…but anyway, it’s the thought that counts. There I was, a Chinese/Melanau singing a Malay song at an Iban wedding – now what can be more 1Malaysian than that, right?

Anyway, what was most important was that it was a happy night, not only for the newly-weds, but for all the invited guests present at the dinner. Thanks for the invitation, Chris…and here’s wishing you and Winston once again every happiness in the years ahead.

Oops!!! I wasn’t talking about Papa Kucing, I swear! Muahahahaha!!! πŸ˜€ Ya…take the advice of one who knows – there’s more, so much more to love! πŸ˜‰

      2. i have to blackmail my bf then, u gain weight or i go find a fat hubby. hahahaha. LOL. but im trying to lose la now, not healthy oso fat like me. i think im fatter than u la stp uncle.

        Impossible. I’m fatter than a full-term expectant mother. Waistline – around 48-50 inches, over 100 kg… I’m sure you can’t beat that. Muahahahaha!!!! πŸ˜€

      3. kathy : hehe, my boyfriend oso said he dun like skinny women, that’s why he find me, but since his brother has kencing manis, he’s asking me to lose weight. and eh, he is chubby too la but dun hv spare tyre only on stomach

Huh? Wants fat gf…and then asking you to lose weight? I’m confused… 😦

      4. er bcoz im overweight., he afraid i will attract illness to me. lol. coz his brother bit overweight n got kencing manis. so he said i better lost until normal weight lor:P . confusing meh ? hahaha

Then you will not be fat anymore…and he likes fat people, so he will not like you anymore lah? 😦 You did not say that he has changed his mind about liking fat people, would prefer you to be thin…for health reasons.

  2. Beautiful choice of song and what a title! Would’ve given much to hear you sing it! Another handsome couple!

Blush! Blush! I would agree with what you say about the choice – the lyrics and all…but you can bless your lucky stars that you did not have to hear me sing! LOL!!! As the English proverb goes, every ass loves to hear itself bray… πŸ˜€

    1. Found the mp3 (will buy the CD when I come back). Thought you only listen to English songs! Well, hope someone taped your performance and youtube it soon!

Oh no! Heavens forbid! LOL!!!…I do listen to Malay songs…and Chinese as well – except that for the latter, I would need to romanised lyrics in order that I may be able to sing. LOL!!! You should try some Indonesian songs too…like this one:

      Love it!

      1. Beautiful! I have a few Broery songs in my mp3 player but never heard this one before. Listening to the recommendations too.

I knew a number of his songs but I only got to hear this one much later – after he had died. Dunno why it wasn’t as popular as the rest – I would think this one’s his best, really beautiful song. You can play that on your guitar… πŸ˜‰

  3. Aiyah.. over here in office, I couldnt see nor hear what song it is.. but wait till i get home, i wanna see and hear it.. but i would prefer the one who sang at the wedding.. that would be more exciting.. didnt anyone video it up? nice or not, yes, it is the “sporting spirit” that counts!

Yup…happy occasion, must be happy together – never mind nice or not, not a singing contest bah!. LOL!!! πŸ˜‰

  4. Such a great wedding reception! Why didn’t you put up the video that recorded the moment you sang this beautiful song?

Have a wonderful day and wish your friends a happy marriage!

Aiyor…they will need a video camera with extra-wide-angle lens to be able to fit me into the screen. LOL!!! There were a lot of cameras…but I don’t think anybody got it on video – I certainly hope not. LOL!!! πŸ˜€

  5. War…how come so many people are getting married? Then again congratulations to them πŸ˜€

Thanks. This is it for the time being – two wedding receptions in November but I will not be attending. The next one will be in early December in Penang…

  6. wahseh… kembang sedepa my lubang hidung kena puji cantek owh… haahaha….
Thanks STP for attending and especially fulfilling my wish that u sing during the reception. Everyone was singing praises about your performance. Such a beautiful song…
December another reception, this time traditional one held at the longhouse. This one no time limit… nyanyi/joget sampai pagi oso ok…hahaha

I always tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth… LOL!!! πŸ˜‰ You’re most welcome…but I’m surprised they liked it – was fighting with flu, still am…but thankfully so far, able to keep it at bay up till today. Hmmmm….if I were half my age, I certainly would join the celebration at the longhouse – but I usually sleep around 9 or 10…so boring hor, my life? LOL!!! πŸ˜€

    1. LOL!
glad that everyone enjoyed the food. Only managed to eat until the fried rice dish (didn’t eat much as i don’t eat rice at night)… The sotong and other dishes so yummy looking but x sempat makan as need to go serve ‘ai pengantin’… hish, should’ve tapau-ed the food. hahahaha

Poor thing! Never mind…at least you can stay slim, positive thinking. LOL!!! πŸ˜€

  7. wow..so many wedding receptions you have attended…that’s so nice to see good frens and student tying the eternity knot.

**you have changed ur blog template. u know what, i can view it using my outdated IE. Luckily i have firefox, else tak boleh comment..LOL

Yes, I love all happy occasions and the opportunities to share the joy.

Oh? Maybe that’s the problem with C4STP’s office computer – I use Google Chrome and I’m quite happy with it. I’ve Firefox and IE too, but I never use them – I think IE’s the worst….

  8. Wah…new ‘home’. Very nice.

Same with the rest, would love to see the video of you singing that song on the stage. hehe…..

Glad you like it. No…no video, thankfully! Otherwise, I’ll lose all my readers…all of a sudden. LOL!!!

  9. So this is the wedding that you sang at! I was hoping to see a video of YOU singing rather than the original singers! Got ah? πŸ˜›

    I certainly hope not…for everybody’s sake! Muahahahahaha!!!! πŸ˜€

  10. Wooooow…you are so sweet..you actually sang that beautiful song at the wedding dinner? So sporting! And I am sure as you sing, it brought back memories for you and the Mrs. *wink

Must keep my word mah… Memories? No lah…we’re so old. Last time where got karaoke? LOL!!!

  11. how come no video of you singing at the wedding? hmmmmmm…

    Congrats to the newly-wed couple.

Thanks. Well, next time I go to KL…let’s meet at a restaurant with karaoke and you can watch me perform live…and let my spoil your appetite! Muahahahaha!!!!

  12. If it’s my wedding, I would have asked you to sing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. LMAO… sure very syok wan! πŸ˜€

Oh? The overflow song! “Tumpah si-air…tumpah si-air!!!” LOL!!! πŸ˜€

  13. I can’t help but notice the steamed fish looks rather sad.. hmmm…

It does? Well, I guess you would be too if you end up getting steamed like that. Muahahahaha!!!!

  14. Are you Filipino? πŸ™‚ I’m gonna take a wild guess and say no. Haha!

    The Roast Chicken looks wonderful.

Nope, I’m Malaysian… Yup, it tasted pretty good too. πŸ˜‰

  15. Wah, Cikgu singing! Memorable gift for the newly weds

LOL!!! To a captive audience… Dinner still going on, so they could not run away. Had to sit and listen… Hahahahaha!!!

  16. Guess you have a great time there…especially the food. *sigh*….this is the wedding period…. lots of red bombs flying in πŸ˜›

Yes, certainly enjoying myself at all these joyous occasions. At least, something to look forward to…for people my age. πŸ˜‰ Don’t mind the bombs – as long as happy…and everybody’s happy.

  17. congrats to the wedded couple. .and wow, new nice template! i like! πŸ™‚

Thanks. Aha…you like too, eh? Everybody likes! πŸ˜‰
