Truly…

My ex-student cum lawyer-friend cum makan-kaki, Louis J, finally solemnised his nuptial union with Georgina N in the eyes of God on Saturday, 9th October at the St Mary of Divine Mercy Church here in Sibu. There were so many photographers at the wedding service, each with their equipment of all shapes and sizes…so I did not bother to try and squeeze with the rest of them and take a snap or two with my miserable digicam.

The wedding reception was held at a local hotel here and I was stuck where I was sitting. There were so many tables and hence, there wasn’t much room for anyone to swing a cat. Because of that, I just stayed put where I was and did not venture around to take photographs there either. But I did manage to take this one of Louis J drinking a toast to his and his bride’s everlasting happiness…

…and also a few of the food.

This was the first dish, the more-than-Four Seasons…

…and there was the chicken combo – roast and Thai-style…

I liked the fish curry served with rice…

…but did not think the prawns were all that fresh – nothing like those that I can buy cheap from my Bandong roadside stall

There were other dishes but everyone at my table was in such a hurry to dive in the moment one was served, so I did not manage to snap the rest.

There was a band…and a whole lot of singing but not me! Louis J sang though, his signature tune – the saccharin-sweet and very romantic “Truly” by Lionel Richie.

After the reception, they proceeded to the longhouse where they would have the traditional Iban wedding celebration that very night and I wouldn’t be surprised if the festivities would go on till the wee hours of the morning. Too bad I’m already too old as I would really love to go and witness that – if I were to go, I don’t think I have that much energy to last very long…

  7. Was expecting to see you there. Sis in law told me you approached her at the church, thinking she was me. Eh STP, we’ve met for my choral team training, I’m 5’9, she’s around 5’4 aiyo, maybe you haven’t had your coffee that morning issit…..hahaha.

The curry fish + plain white rice was delicious ! want.some.more. I don’t know how I managed to miss the prawns but after your comment on it, perhaps all the better. I haven’t been out for weeks and LJ’s wedding lunch reception gave me great fun and good nom nom nom. Happy!

I met you twice before but they were mere fleeting glimpses…and besides, you were in the family way on both occasions, so I could not exactly remember what you looked like and I still don’t! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m not so good at remembering faces…and our third encounter was just a passing glimpse. If it’s any consolation, my wife says that you are so very beautiful! Wink! Wink! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was expecting to see you, so when this sweet young thing smiled at me, I just jumped to the conclusion that it was you. The thought did cross my mind then as to why your hubby married somebody that looked like his mother! Muahahahahaha!!!! Turned out to be your SIL!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

  8. i am a die-hard fans of the “Four Seasons”!! haha, i don’t know why, but maybe could be always waiting long before the dinner starts, and that is always the first dish, hahahaha~~

Ya…that’s a possibility – you’re already too hungry. But I do like that particular dish myself! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. if i’m seated with strangers, i’ll not take pictures coz they dunno we are bloggers.. if i’m seated with family or friends who are aware that i’m a blogger.. then.. i’ll politely ask them if they can gimme 30 seconds.. ๐Ÿ˜€

  10. congratulations to the couple! should have done it on 10-10-10!

Thanks. He was avoiding the crowd, didn’t want to join in the mad scramble…

  11. Like the way they presented the chicken in 2 different style. Wah…so long did not eat Thai style chicken.

I prefer the roasted chicken though – can enjoy the taste of the chicken without it being drowned out by the Thai sauce.

  12. hehehehe i passed out after the lunch reception lol! really drunk, slept soundly in hotel room….my wife had to wake me up to remind me that we had another reception at the longhouse and yes STP….. the longhouse folks party until early morning! live band was there also!….we came back to the hotel around 2am……i had a great time! cheers!
