From this moment on (2)…

The wedding banquet was held at the Kuching Hilton ballroom, no less…

Leo's wedding 2 - Hilton Ballroom 1

…and as you can see, it was indeed a really posh and grand affair…

Even the table setting was impressive…

…and this was the wedding cake…

I did not take the photos of the newly-weds cutting the cake but I managed to snap one of the couple pouring the bubbly champagne…

…and one of the two with their parents proposing a toast to all the very distinguished guests – family, friends, and colleagues alike…

I was pretty impressed by the food as usually, when you hold functions at high-class hotels, you end up paying for the ambience and everything else and what they serve may be somewhat disappointing. The dinner that night was great, starting off with the Four Seasons…

…which was nice and I liked the fish too…

…and the prawns were good as well.

The Szechuan Duck came last, just before the dessert, but I did not take any photographs of the other dishes as the lights were somewhat dim and it was near impossible to take nice pics without using the flash – which I do not like as the colours would turn out rather unnatural. The duck was really very nice though; actually, I was already so full by then but I loved it so much that I just had to have a second helping…and a third…and a fourth…and a fifth… LOL!!!

There was a jazz band in attendance to entertain everyone with music and songs but by special request, Kpg Nangka Boy had to sing a song for his bride and guess what song he chose! Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight” which he said was the only one he knew in the band’s repertoire…and he got his two bestmen – TheOtherCousin and Jeremy to be his back-up singers…

Leo's wedding 2 - The 3 Tenors

Now, don’t they resemble the 3 Tenors? LOL!!!

By the end of the dinner, everyone was in a “jovial mood” and the party went on and on…all night long.Β It certainly was a great start to a lifetime of happiness for the lovely couple…

  1. OMG! The Three Tenors. Hahahahahahaha… and I saw a potential Parvarotti over there. LOLOL. (ish, I’m so bad!)… Sobs… tarak O sole mio kah? Sobs…

Papa Roti, you mean? He certainly has the body and the hair, or lack of it… A beard is all he needs. LOL!!! If you’re bad, I’m worse! πŸ˜‰

    1. Hahahahahahahahah! LOL. Papa Roti… yea… all he need is the beard… lol… and i’d say he’s Papa Roti any day. Where’s ur pic singing? Come, give! Let us see, let us see!!! LOLOL!

None…all banned from public viewing!!! LOL!!!

      1. *sulk* So… tarak youtube vid of you singing either? Ish…. what a waste.

No singing at the banquet… The groom’s song also was not planned – the bride’s girlfriends made a request…. You want to hear me sing…have to wait till I go to KL and you take me to one karaoke lounge – none of those boxes for me! Wanna go to where there’s a stage and there’s a captive audience! LOL!!! πŸ˜‰

  2. wao, congratulate the new married couple πŸ˜€ Are they kuching people? that’s why u hav to go all the way from sibu to kuching?? I always love the “four season” in any wedding dinner lol X)

Yup…the family moved to Kuching long ago. The groom was born in Kuching…

  3. Nowadays, the weddings are so nice and posh..unlike my time.. hmmmm… makes one feel like having a wedding all over again.. hahahahaha.. rekindle the vows la..not asking to marry a new one!
jokes aside, marriage these days are really romantic and grand looking… with dim lights, the couple will walk in to the crooning voice of some love song.. and then dancing after the dinner.. lovely!!

Ya…it is so nice these days…not like our time, rather simple. I guess it is a whole lot more expensive too but once in a lifetime thing, should be ok. Renewal of vows? Golden Jubilee – 50th anniversary…I’ll be 79, dunno how to have fun already…if still around by then. LOL!!! But you have three kids… Lots of opportunities to experience all that! Don’t forget to invite me, ya! I’ll fly over…. LOL!!!

  4. yam seng! hehehe! i like attend wedding dinner like this! πŸ˜€ how come foods only show that one?? where’s the other???

Read lah… They dimmed the lights – more romantic…so not nice for photos. Plus, our table quite a mess…with the glasses, the whisky and everything – I did not drink though… LOL!!!!

  5. The food was nice that night cause we made lots of comments during the food-tasting. Hehe. Including there being hardly any of the “that which shall not be mentioned” in the soup. At least they improved on it that night.

Ya, it was good… I really enjoyed the dinner – unlike the last time I attended one at the former Holiday Inn.

    1. Taboo soup was thick and nice, I thought. Of course my “activist” son didn’t touch a drop…good lah, at least he’s principled that way…LOL!

Hahahahaha!!! That very thought struck me the moment it was served…and I was going to go over to his/your table to rub it in but somehow, with all the things going on, it slipped my mind. LOL!!!

  6. Food was vv nice I was supposed to be on diet…eat and laugh a lot..yes it was a posh and grand affair n you see the naughty side of everybody after all the drinking..haha.

That’s the typical Jackfruit Village part of everyone creeping out of the woodworks… πŸ˜‰

    1. Ya, it’s obvious you can take the boy out of Kpg Nangka, but can never take Kpg Nankga out of the boy..I mean the groom…..hahahahaha. Some more ask people if his dancing was “key si” or not!?!?!

Good grief! And he asked Hiok whether his wife was beautiful or not! At least, when he came over to talk to me, he was able to say thank you for coming out to attend his wedding and how he appreciated it – something pretty sober for a guy who was almost completely stoned… I guess I never fail to command that kind of respect, eh? Wink! Wink! Hehehehehehe!!!!

  7. food , decor and ambience all look good. i told my mum if i pass my exam today, i’d belanja them eat a big buffet. hilton or marriot maybe? and u’re invited hahahaha

*on my knees, praying real hard…that you will pass!!!* Muahahahahaha!!!!

    1. All swans cos Liverpool supporter haha

      I see… Is that their mascot? Didn’t know that… Not into football…

      1. And not because the family originated from Sibu hahaha

My sentiments exactly! That night, I thought it was so Sibu – with all the swans around! LOL!!!

  8. Wow..the bridgroom looks handsome and the bride beautiful. Btw, the grooms looks like you … a certain resemblance to you leh :)) So give me a treat when I visit Sibu :p Congrats to the newly weds πŸ™‚

Thanks. LOL!!! He wouldn’t be flattered to hear that! No problem at all… When are you coming? I will certainly make sure that you will eat to your heart’s content here… πŸ˜‰

  9. Wah 5 helpings!!! LOL! Are you sure you were REALLY full? πŸ˜›
Ohh I love Wonderful Tonight! Such a sweet and romantic song! The bride must have been all smiles and tears that night! πŸ™‚

Psst…it was more than 5! Muahahahaha!!! Eyewwww…not my favourite because of the overkill at karaoke joints. Every Tom, Dick or Harry would sing it.

    1. Come, sing ‘Burning love’ by Elvis instead… wuhooo!

Aiyor…so old kah? Sing lah…”Bad Romance” or “Telephone” (not the Sheena Easton version). Muahahahahaha!!!!

  10. I noticed the bride’s mother (presumably) was so slim and elegant, like a Coke bottle, so as the daughther (the bride).. πŸ˜›

Yes, she certainly looks very young and in extremely good shape – like the daughter’s sister…

  11. Cikgu looking very smart with the tux πŸ˜€

Where? Where? Papa Roti kah? That wasn’t me lah!!! I wore batek that evening, not posting any of my photos.

    1. *PENGSANNNNN* Cikgu mana ada pakai tux? *PENGSANNNN* Ishh… time for u to tambah power for ur specs. LOLOL!

Don’t tell me she has joined the club – the log in, simply post comment and cabut one! Never read or see properly one… Talking of which, I notice that club member of yours has stopped dropping by… 😦

  12. the 3 Tenors reminds me of Ethan’s elmo.. πŸ˜€ there’s a scene where there are 3 elmos (3 Tenors) πŸ˜€

LOL!!! Got one fat Elmo like Papa Roti or not? Muahahahaha!!!!

  13. did any kids licked the ice sculpture? coz during my weddings the kids went n lick it lick it! @_@

Eyewwww….lucky thing their tongues did not get stuck to the ice!
