Wasted…

My missus bought a steak and mushroom pie in a can. I do not know how much it cost as I did not bother to ask her but I could jolly well guess that it would be pretty expensive…especially considering the fact that it was made in Lincolnshire which I guess is in the UK.

Well, she finally opened it the other day and heated it up in the oven. Gosh! What a disappointment it was! The pie crust was limp and soggy…and did not even resemble any pie crust in any way – definitely nothing like the ones I made or the chicken pies at Aroma Bakery here.

The filling was quite nice though. I would rate it as being slightly better than those imported frozen pies from Australia. So what I did was…I boiled some of the mee kua that I had blogged about the other day, there being no pasta of any kind in the house, and served that with the steak and mushroom filling on top…

With the fresh local lettuce and sliced tomatoes, it was indeed a complete balanced meal of protein, carbohydrates and fibre…

…and the best part was that it actually was quite nice and one thing’s for sure, it definitely was not all wasted after all…
