Soley soley…

Hands up if you know this song! LOL!!! I guess you will have to be pretty old like me if you know this one. It was by the group called Middle of the Road, the same one that sang “Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep“. Doesn’t ring the bell? Never mind…as somebody said the other day, it is never about the song, always about the food! It certainly looks like you people have got to know me pretty well by now, eh?

Well, it’s not exactly about food this time…but about Melissa’s good friend, Soleha, who celebrated her birthday recently. So they went out with some of their coursemates to this place in Wellington, New Zealand called Hell’s Pizza…

Mel & friends - Soleha's birthday

They had the Serpent…

Hell's Pizza - Serpent

…and the Underworld…

…and these corn fritters with sweet chilli dip…

Hell's Pizza - corn fritters

The place is actually a New Zealand-based pizza chain. Β I heard that if you order takeaway, the pizza will come in a coffin-shaped box. Eyewwww…..!!! The old people here with all their pantangs (taboos) would have fits if they see that.

Melissa bought her friend this as her birthday gift…

Birthday present

Gee! It looks very nice, doesn’t it? It comes in a very classy looking box too! Very Laura Ashley, don’t you think?

Here, you can see them having fun at Cuba Street – like posing for some kutu-rocker album cover. Muahahahahahaha!!!!

And hey! They have a road named after me in Wellington…

Arthur Street Wellington NZ

I know there’s one in Singapore too, somewhere in the Tanjong Katong area. I wonder if there are any others…

I know it’s kinda late, almost a month since the 18th of July but anyhow, a belated Happy Birthday greeting, Soleha, from uncle and auntie in Sibu and wishing you nothing but the very best in the year ahead. Cheers!

  1. I’ve never heard that song, but now it’s stuck in my head. πŸ™‚

The pizzas look delicious, I haven’t made any in quite some time. I cannot remember the last time I ate corn fritters.

The gift does look very Laura Ashley. It’s very pretty too. πŸ™‚

LOL!!! You’re obviously too young. Those songs should be from the 60’s, I think. Ya…they certainly seem very generous with their toppings. Look yummy! Love the gift too. When my daughter told me, she bought her friend a mug…I had expected “one of those” but this is really very nice. πŸ˜‰

  2. ahaaa.Hell’s pizza…shame on me though…i’m in NZ and passing by everyday yet never try…i shd drop by someday huuuu…Arthur st…i think there is definitely more than one in auckland…

Ya…they’re all over NZ and I think they’ve outlets elsewhere in the world too. Very strange concept…but I guess it appeals to the young people. Oops…you’re young too! Hehehehehehe!!! See if you can spot any Arthur St in Auckland too…

  3. Ohhh… ohhh….I am not that old. Dunno this song. LOL…

    1. I dunno… I never tried Domino. LOL… Buy Pizza Hut cuz it’s cheaper if buy online… kakaka… especially if pay use Maybank2u. Got 30% discount, apart for a 10% discounts on pizzas when order online. Kakakak…

Oh? Is that so? Well, I don’t have an a/c with the Harimau… Not sure whether they do home delivery here…

  4. 1 hand up! Old but not as oooold as u :)!

    I know! I know! Nobody’s as old as me… Hehehehehehe!!!! πŸ˜‰

  5. Don’t let the name fool you.
Hell’s pizzas are all devilishly delicious & generous with toppings!
Best American-style pizzas I’ve ever had!

American? It’s an NZ-chain, isn’t it? I read in the website that they have outlets elsewhere in other countries though. Ya…you had your fair share of those in your two years in Welly. No plans to go back there in the near future for a visit?

  6. That is some seriously good looking pizza and ironically I’m sitting here waiting for a couple of pizzas to be delivered. BTW, I haven’t heard that song but we do have an Arthur St. in Toronto – although I’m not sure about the neighbourhood. We also have a Prince Arthur Avenue which is a very high rent district in downtown Toronto near a neignbourhood known as Yorkville. Today Yorkville is maybe Toronto’s most upscale shopping district, but in the 60’s it was the centre of hippie culture and musical artists such as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell performed there regularly.

Middle of the Road was probably British – many did not make in big across the Atlantic. That was the ere of bubblegum music like the Archies, the Partridge Family…. Ya, I know Neil Youn and Joni Mitchell – I know even older ones, they’re not THAT old. Hahahahahaha!!! Ah! I’ve an avenue in Toronto too? LOL!!! That reminds me of Bugis Street in Singapore – the “activity” centre for transvestites and a major tourist attraction. They cleaned up the area, upgraded it into a nice, presentable and respectable neighbourhood…but nobody bothers to go there anymore. πŸ˜€ Enjoy your pizzas!!!

  7. Like father, like daughter. hahahaha. enjoy lotsa nice foods! πŸ˜€ yerrr very nice la the glass with the box!! ish ish got his name thr pula!! hahaha

Hehehehehe!!! See got Caroline or not! πŸ˜› Ya, memang like father and daughter…and she even has my good taste in her choice of present. Hehehehehe!!!! πŸ˜‰

  8. ohhh…the pizzas look good! Haven’t had pizzas in ages.

I had the fish fingers one around Gawai at Pizza Hut. I wonder if they’ve got the meatballs one here yet or not…

  9. Don’t ask the young..ask the old like me.. yes, soley soley… soley soley… hhuuuhuu… after these, i cannot remember the words.. haha..
chirpy chirpy cheeep cheep also i know..
    where’s your mama gone… echo
    where’s your papa gone… echo
    far far away..
last night i heard my mama singing a song
oh weh.. chirpy chirpy cheep cheep..
    bla bla bla…..bla… ahahaha..

Hahahahahaha!!!! Of course you know it! You’re ALMOST as old as I am… ROTFL!!! πŸ˜€

  10. Where’s mama gone, where’s papa gone? Ya love this one, looking at Melissa’s pictures i bet she is truly enjoying herself down in NZ and even you are bestowed with a street name too , hahahahah.

Please let her know that uncle Eugene is wishing her flying color in her study, pink in her health, and all the good good things, and god bless, take care now.

Thanks so much for your good wishes, Uncle Eugene… Ya, she’s getting on ok there, much better than in SP. Ya..you know the song too eh? Ah well, after all, you’re no spring chicken like most of my other readers. Hahahahahaha!!! πŸ˜€

  11. At first glance i thought that was Stout lined up on the table…hahaha. The pizzas look excellent…. why cant we have that here?! Haih…

Hey! Why don’t you get the franchise…and open one here? Would be a hot among the young people…and with those yummy pizzas, I wouldn’t mind dropping by time and time again! But I’d pass on the coffin box though… I’m quite old-fashioned. Hehehehehehe!!!!

  12. coffin box? that is interesting! Ask Melissa to take away one next time and show us!

Eeeee…the mere idea gives me the creeps. Will ask her to take a photo of the coffin box should she happen to drop by there again.

  13. hmmm…trying to recall this song…really din hear before wor…

I know! I know! You’re young… No need to rub that in. Hahahahahaha!!! Btw, great for sing-alongs in your company training sessions… Ice breaker!

  14. Wow… the pizza really look ‘gao’ with cheese, that would be my favourite! I have always been pissed off by those ‘stingy’ pizza chain with little cheese topping!^-^

    have a nice day!

Ya…like in some Italian restaurants, already thin crust…and so little topping. Looks quite miserable and tastewise, much to be desired…

  15. lol.. Arthur St.. just like when we were in Australia they have a street named after my Darling WIlliam… William St πŸ˜€

William, sure a lot…in the UK. I guess Arthur too – all the traditional English names.

  16. What a special pizza name. In a coffin box ! Very interesting.

Haha…your daughter took a pic of the street name just for you to see? Feel very proud ya. haha

Ya, she must be amused to see that. We don’t get such street names around here… Mostly Chinese and Malay names. There is Brooke Drive though, after the White Rajahs.

  17. Lol, how would we know wat the pizza’s flavour is from the names?

Like when you go to Italian or other continental restaurants where the names of the dishes on the menu are in a language that is Greek to you…READ THE FINE PRINT! LOL!!! πŸ˜€

  18. Happy belated birthday to Soleha!

Hmmmmm….don’t know the song, means i am young? LOL!!

Wow! The pizza looks so good!!! Yum!!

Stay tune for my homemade mini pizza in my blog.

Thanks on Soleha’s behalf. Yes, yes…I know you’re vERY young. LOL!!! Oh? Your pizzas must be really great… Can’t wait to see. πŸ˜‰

  19. Haha…that pizza shop is really weird! Naming their food like Serpent and Underworld. Then there that pizza in a coffin. Haha…people with their superstitions will be really frightened. I am wondering what those pizza taste like? Is the underworld taste like hell?

Hahahahaha!!! Young people these days – real crazy! Old people like me – sure headache when seeing such places. LOL!!! But the pizzas look really really good…. I don’t mind eating those.

Well, if you’re interested, you can click this link to their website: http://www.hell.co.nz

  20. Oh I’ve read about this place before, but am not certain if it’s in NZ. I’ll happily try a slice each of the serpent and underworld please…LOL!

So much topping, like overflowing… I’m sure that must be so filling.

    1. Otherwise eat crust only with smidgen of topping? I will pass, thanks! LOL!

Yalor…nothing great, not worth the calories…

  21. LOL…now i know why that cleff ask me Pizza hut better or Domino better. She read your post before breakfast..kakakakaka…

Hahahahaha!!! I con’t remember where I read the post(s) about how Domino’s better than Pizza Hut. Anybody any comments on Shakey’s? Used to have that at Sg Wang. No more… Bankrupt already?

    1. Shakey’s… I tried them before… their chicken sausage and nugget pizza or sth. And I don’t think I wanna eat them again. Not nice. Price wise… they’re more expensive than Domino and Pizza Hut too.

Haizz… I tot wanna order Domino just now… but apparently, my address is not inside their delivery list. So now have to stick with pizza hut lorr… lol… they deliver here ma. LOL.

I’m not really into pizzas…but my daughter is. So since she’s not around, I don’t think I’ll be going to Pizza Hut or any other place for pizzas…

    2. Shakey shake too much, runtuh liao la…kakakaka…haiz…what a name…SHakey

Yalor…must choose good name like Manikam Curry House…sure money come one. LOL!!!

  22. Ahhhh, It’s well into August already! Sorry for not dropping by for so long! Thank youuuu uncle and auntie for your wish! πŸ™‚ Ahahaha speaking about taboos, I wonder what kind of birthday party is that with most of us dressed in black! πŸ˜€

Most welcome. Ya…all in black. Once, my friends and I went clubbing and all of us were dressed in black – somebody sitting by the side remarked, “Is there a funeral going on?” LOL!!! πŸ˜€

  23. Never heard of the song before, eventhough if I did, I might not remember the song title. πŸ˜›

Hell’s Pizza?? The food there doesn’t look a bit like hell though.

You must be pretty young then. Ya, the pizzas look quite heavenly actually! πŸ˜‰

  24. I dunno the song…he he he, pretend to be young!LOL!

Hahahahahaha!!! I didn’t know either… Just happened to stumble upon them while browsing on youtube! πŸ˜€

  25. any roads named after kenwooi? i guess not.. haha =P
