Who painted the moon black…

For the uninitiated, this is the title of one of Hayley Westenra’s more popular songs…and if you don’t know her, she’s a well-known soprano singer from New Zealand but her genre is more towards classical or opera – something along the lines of people like Josh Groban.

Well, I suppose that would be the question you would ask when you see this…

Precious Black mooncake

LOL!!! That’s a mooncake! A black one…and if I did not drop by Vialentino’s blog the other day and read his post on making mooncakes, I would not know why it is black.

A blogger-friend has been so kind as to send me some mooncakes all the way from KL…

Baker's Cottage mooncakes 1

I guess it must be because of all my ranting about the astronomical prices of mooncakes these days…and how I am going to boycott by not buying any when the festival comes around and this sympathetic friend of mine decided to send me this…

It comes in a very nice box…

…that opens to reveal a very pretty inside cover…

…and in the box are two mooncakes of different flavours – the Precious Black and this one – the Grand Ruby…

Grand Ruby mooncake

I have not tried them yet though, so I cannot make any comments on the taste and what not. I wonder when the expiry date is – perhaps I can keep those till the festival and feast on them then. Aha! At least I will get the chance to eat some “real” mooncakes this year in keeping with the tradition. LOL!!!

The said blogger-friend wishes to remain anonymous, so I will comply and not reveal the identity here. All I will say is thank you so very much for your kind generosity and may God bless you and your family abundantly.
