I heard somebody saying that kissing is like eating peanuts. First, you take one…and then you want one more…and then you want more and more and more! What do you all think? Fact or fiction? LOL!!!
If you go for a sit-down full course dinner at a Chinese restaurant here, they will give you a plate of salted peanuts, but mind you! They do not come free. You will find it in your bill later and it can cost up to RM2.00 even. My favourite would be Planters’ but they can be pretty costly, easily up to around RM10.00 a tin/bottle.
Sometimes, they give you coated peanuts which are nice too but likewise, these are not that cheap either even though we have the local brands like Tong Garden and others. We can buy those small packets at convenience stores like 7-Eleven and finish the whole lot in a jiffy.
Well, I got these from my regular Bandong kuih stall for only RM1.00 a packet…
…and they’re different in their own way. The coating is a little bit spicy, a little bit sweet and a little bit salty…
…and there are anchovies (ikan bilis) among the nuts as well. I would say they are nice…and comparatively, not that expensive.
I gave my brother a packet when he was here recently and while he was eating, I went looking for an airtight container to keep the rest…but I shouldn’t have bothered because in no time at all, he had finished the whole packet. Gee! Imagine if those were kisses! ROTFL!!!

My family used to grow peanuts when my brother and I were children. I remember picking them, and my mother boiling them. She salted them, so they had soft texture and were salty too.

LOL!!! Very good response indeed. Yes, I love those boiled groundnuts too…with a little bit of salt added. Gee! Haven’t bought those and cooked them for a while now. They do sell at the stalls around here but they’re very expensive. You only get a little bit for a ringgit(dollar)… π¦
Another great title, filled with subliminal messages. Yes, you don’t get those restaurant peanuts for free. It’s the same with their “complimentary” packets of wipes. You think they’re free until the bill comes.
But these peanuts are absolutely the best. I’m normally not a peanut kind of person but I’ll have to say I couldn’t stop after the first one. They have you intoxicated, and breathless, and you just want more and more and more.
Ya…those smelly “wet ones” do not come free either. Some smell of cockroaches. Wah…do you kiss like that too? Muahahahahahaha!!!!
I’ll have to say you lost me there with the wet smelly ones and the cockroaches. Learning a lot today. Enjoy now. Pay later. That seems to be the lesson for the day.

Ya…you’re so health conscious. But some oily, some not so…but lots of oil (fats) in peanuts. High protein content also.

wah…stp… today’s post title caught me offguard… i tot why so romantic today.. lol… so it is about nuts.. and i m nuts about nuts too!! my favorite till my best buddy cautioned me to get off nuts, it is causing my uric acid to sky high.. no wonder here ache there ache… but what’s not, wallop first…. for a RM, it is very cheap to get the packet above.. i also like eating those from the tin one.. made in thailand with the boy’s face.. from 3.50 now sell at 7rm here.. crazy!!
RM7? I have not bought for sometime. Last time was RM3 something – but I thought they were from China. Did not bother to check. Was nice before…but eventually, I thought the quality had gone down. Nuts uric acid? Ya…high protein content. I should also refrain from eating too much…and too often.
Is that the reason I have pain on my legs!? I must get off nuts as well. But any suggestion on how to resist when the temptation is too strong? I suppose I just have to avoid looking at them.
You have gout? When was your last blood test? How’s your uric acid level? Maybe you need to go on allopurinol… Check with your doctor. They told me pineapples…or is it pandan leaves also good for gout. Normally, I do not eat peanuts…plus I only have one upper molar left, so I’m ok! Hehehehehehe!!!!

Not particularly nuts about peanuts but I do go crazy on those served at New Capitol where they come boiled til creamy and soft dunked in a light gravy of something salty ( think diluted soya sauce ). That’s when I stop talking, let the rest do the talking while I concentrate on stuffing each and every one of those heavenly elephant food into my mouth. sedaaaaapnya.
You can buy those in cans. Nice…but those from the restaurants seem a little bit nicer. Probably they made theirs themselves.

Peanuts are nice, especially when fried. I usually buy some whenever I go home late from the office. One pack is just 10 pesos or about 20 cents.
