Well, it’s back once again to the Ruby Restaurant which, by now, is a familiar name to all my blogger-friends, I’m sure. Even those from Kuching would find their own way there and if you read the review in this blog, you can see that they were really very impressed.
Actually, my friend, Lim, was celebrating his birthday last week and he invited me and my missus out for dinner with him and his family…and it doubled as a pre-Father’s Day celebration. And since it was a birthday, following the Foochow tradition, we just had to have mee sua (Foochow longevity string noodles)..
This is the fried version…but that night, I thought it was not as nice as on previous occasions and I wished they had taken the trouble to do something about the presentation.
The butter scotch pork was very good…
Normally, we would have that with prawns…but the kids love the honey prawn balls at Nice House, so we had to order that for them…
Between the two places, I think Nice House does it better.
I loved the tofu with minced meat and salted fish that night…
They must have put a lot of salted fish and the fragrance was overwhelming. Nice, very nice!
The mixed beans (with brinjal) or what they call the Four Kings in the peninsula were exceptionally good…
It was probably the quality of the belacan (dried fermented prawn paste) that they used. Even after we had finished all the veg, I could still detect the lingering smell. I told the boss that when I run out of belacan, I would let him know and ask him to help me get some of the same.
Annie-Q did not think their sea cucumber soup was the best in Sibu but that night, it was very well done…
All in all, the six dishes came up to RM65.00 which I thought was reasonable as the servings were big and the food was to everyone’s satisfaction.
