The other morning, my daughter and I went for breakfast at the Mei Le Cafe somewhere in my neighbourhood. It seemed that the stall where I usually had the tom yam mihun had something new – the mouse/rat-tail noodles…
…but they did it differently from the kampua-style version that I had recently. For this one, the noodles were tossed in some sauce and garnished with sliced home-made fish cake, minced meat, fried ikan bilis (anchovies) and chopped Chinese celery…
It was VERY nice and I certainly would go back there again for more. My daughter had the meat porridge with century egg…
The one here isn’t too bad but personally, I prefer the meat porridge special with slices of liver and pig’s intestines at that coffee shop in Sungai Merah.
While we were enjoying ourselves, I noticed something interesting. They actually had a Chippendales’ mug…

Ya…our neighbourhood! The brother of the guy at the stall opposite Public Bank runs a brisk business there selling char siew, roast pork etc. Some say the kampua is good but it didn’t turn me on…and the other stall at that shop sells very nice tom yum mihun and now, this rat-tail noodles. Her laksa and porridge are good but there are better ones elsewhere. Gee!!! Wasn’t it very far from your office at the time? I guess that would ensure that you would not get spotted. Tsk! Tsk! 😉

Just like that what-do-they-call-it-now – pan mee or something? I was not used to the ikan bilis also…but in this one, with the minced meat and dark sauce, I thought it was really nice. Ya…so glad could get to meet you to – watch out for the post…tomorrow, I think.
