(I can’t get no) Satisfaction…

You may recall from one of my previous posts that ah^kam_koko’ – this young teacher from Katibas, Song was in Sibu for the weekend…and we went out for dinner on Saturday night. The next day – Sunday, my missus and I went to church and as usual, after the service, we would go for brunch…so I smsed him to see if anyone was taking him out for breakfast and if not, whether he would like to go for some dim sum.

In the end, we ended up at my regular dim sum place – the Mitsu Tea House. Sadly, I found that the quality had dropped somewhat – the har kau looked so limp and miserably over-steamed, and even the taste was a real disappointment. I should have taken a photograph of that so everyone will be able to see it with their own eyes. The colour of the siew mai appeared kind of different too…

…but at least, they tasted great. I do not know what these are called but I liked it a lot…

It tasted really good and I was positive they had salted egg yolk inside. But these were nothing to shout about…

They looked similar to those siaw loong pao which I never liked owing to the strong ginger taste…and they actually tasted more or less like that too. We had two storeys/baskets of their char siew pao

…which thankfully were as good as before. We had some other items that were not that impressive either and ah^kam_koko’ had the chicken claws but he said it was somewhat too salty and did not taste very nice. All in all, the bill came up to around RM45.00, inclusive of drinks for three persons. I would think that was very expensive considering that it was not a really satisfying meal and with that kind of money, we could have gone elsewhere and have something a lot nicer.

I guess they will not be seeing me around there anymore…unless I have a sudden craving for dim sum and this one’s probably the best we have (I haven’t checked out the newer places yet!)..or when I have guests and they would like to have that specifically.

Well, the weekend’s here…and to close this post, here are some more random photos that I took recently. This one’s of the leaves used in some floral arrangement during Chinese New Year this year but they’ve all dried up by now, of course…

Dried but still nice...

…and this is a photo of my old terendak (sun hat) – tattered and torn but handy when asking for rain! LMAO!!!

Terendak, tattered and torn

And this last one would be a welcome change from the previous subjects – a young hibiscus bud yet to bloom, the symbol of hope and life! But don’t you think the two earlier photos also have a message to convey – that you may be old, all dried up and withered and still look nice and attractive and that you may be old, all tattered and torn but you may still be useful? Something to ponder upon, eh?

Have a lovely weekend, everybody…
