When there are only two in the house, or worse still, when there’s only one, sometimes one would really feel too lazy to cook. For one thing, it is not easy to cook such small servings and for another, it is not worth the trouble as it would entail more or less the same amount of work.
My missus would cook the usual normal servings which would actually be enough for a large family for at least two meals. In the end, we would be reheating and eating the same thing day in and day out for almost a week and getting so sick of it that we would end up discarding whatever that’s left of it. Therefore, most of the time, I would buy food from outside…like this bowl of masak hitam Sarawak for only RM5.00…
…which was enough for at least 2 meals.
These eggs (telur masak merah) were RM1.00 each…
…and for RM3.00, I could have enough fried bandung (tapioca) leaves for two or three days…
So, all in all, the cost of the three items totalled RM11.00 and there was definitely enough for 2 or 3 persons for one meal or even two.
I do not think it is a matter of being lazy or what but think of all the hassle you’re saving yourself from…and it may even be cheaper especially when you are forced to cook large portions and after a day or two, you throw the leftovers away as you can no longer stand the sight of them.
What do the rest of you think?
