Louis J asked me to give him a lift to the airport yesterday morning and suggested stopping for breakfast along the way. Well, we ended up at the Rasa Sayang Cafe and had this bowl of pian sip…
…at only RM2.20 with its generous sprinkling of spring onions and eyew chang (fried onions) in very nice clear soup.
Incidentally, what on earth does pian sip mean, if anybody would care to enlighten me? And why is it called kiaw in Kuching or wantan elsewhere? Is it just a name given to it – the same way we call a chair a chair, for instance? I wonder…
Anyway, we also had the kampua noodles, of course…
…also at RM2.20 a bowl. Louis J was the one who told me about Rasa Sayang initially when they were still at their old location but he had not had it since they moved to their new premises sometime towards the end of last year, and his verdict…
It was as nice as he remembered it to be – they had been able to retain its yummy taste and quality after all this time.
I guess everybody already knows that this is my favourite place for kampua noodles but some have not bothered to drop by and give it a try e.g. intechfly, formerly known as housefly. He had to come home for a couple of weeks ago because of the H1N1 scare in the university…and at long last, he happened to drop by the place with his friends. I got an sms from him soon after and he said I was right – it definitely was the best he had ever tasted.
Well, as I always say, I am…ALWAYS right! LOL!!!
