If you are a classical guitarist, you will definitely know the John Willaims’ song, “Cavatina” written by Stanley Myers and featured in the Oscar award-winning movie, “The Deer Hunter”.
Later, somebody decided to put words to the haunting theme song and I thought it was very well done. The lyrics are as beautiful as the melody itself…
He was beautiful,
beautiful to my eyes.
From the moment I saw him,
the sun filled the sky.
He was so, so beautiful,
beautiful just to hold.
In my dreams, he was springtime,
winter was cold.
How could I tell him
what I so clearly could see
Though I longed for him
another trusted me completely
so I never could be free
Ah, but it was beautiful
knowing now that he cared
I will always remember
times that we shared
Now it’s all over,
still the feeling lingers on
for my dream keeps returning
now that he’s gone
for it was beautiful
beautiful
beautiful to be loved
Now, what do you think of the lyrics? Beautiful, right? In the words of Tennyson: “Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”
I love the vocal version of the song by the Queen of Jazz, Cleo Lane where she sang the song unplugged – accompanied by John Williams on the classical guitar, but it’s not available on youtube. This is the video clip of the song that I’ve managed to link to, but I do not particularly like this version by Shirley Bassey. I just thought that those of you who love those Korean soaps may enjoy it. Let me know if you like it…
I don’t know about the song (no time to read yet- replacement today) but the swans are beautiful!
That was part of a bouquet of flowers for the old lady on Valentine’s Day long long ago… LOL!!!
Sir, do u hav the card keys from the New World suites in bintulu? if not, i do hav one here 🙂
Nope, I don’t. New hotel in town? I only have Parkcity Everley. Haven’t been to Bintulu for a few years now, haven’t been to the new shopping mall… You’re from Bintulu?
i liked the lyrics of the song but not the song itself. Sorry! Don’t u think it will be so sad if a person do not know love at all,it don’t have to be in lover’s form but other forms like parental, sibling or family,friendship…..
All you need is love..by Beatles, that is a lovely song!
Yucks! Don’t like that Beatles’ song. Ya…so sad, a world without love. Btw, where’s Pollie? Haven’t seen her around lately. Is she in Penang by any chance?
I like this:
“Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”
… and totally agree with it! 🙂
Ya, that’s Lord Alfred Tennyson’s famous quotation… So, how is yours getting on? Any new development?
Just on the phone with Pollie, her computer system down, just recovered,so she may pop by to ‘chia-tui-pau’ (blast big cannon) soon!LOL!
No wonder…no sound for so long! Hope she gets back online soon then…
Awww… he was beautiful? :p I wonder who. Hahahahaha!
Me! Me! Beautiful as in SUI…SUI-tuapui! U agree or not? Hahahahahaha!!!!
I prefer the Everly Brothers’…buy buy love..buy buy happiness..buy buy sweet caress
have to comment la…only 6 comments. If there is any consolation…read in the news that the net was down this day..hahahhahaha.
My connection also not too good. Usually UMTS or something, now HSPDA…not too bad, but can putus2 and have to reconnect regularly…but not as slow as GPRS. So, ok lah…! Can still go on…..
I love this song! Played it on the piano many times and it just calm me down. The perfect song to de-stress! : )
Ya, lovely song… My daughter plays it on the piano too…and you know me lah! I’ll ruin it by butting in and singing out loud at the top of my voice! Hahahahahahaha!!!
