My little girl…

I stumbled upon this song by Tim McGraw on youtube and I wanna share it with everybody. The lyrics go like this:

Gotta hold on easy as I let you go.
Gonna tell you how much I love you
Though you think you already know.
I remember I thought
You looked like an angel
Wrapped in pink so soft and warm.
You’ve had me wrapped around your finger
Since the day you were born.

When you were in trouble
That crooked little smile could melt my heart of stone
Now look at you, I’ve turned around
And you’ve almost grown.
Sometimes you’re asleep, I whisper “I Love You!”
In the moonlight at your door.
As I walk away, I hear you say,
“Daddy Love You More!”.

Someday, some boy will come
And ask me for your hand.
But I won’t say “yes” to him unless I know
He’s the half that makes you whole
He has a poet’s soul
And the heart of a man’s man.
I know he’ll say that he’s in love.
But between you and me,
He won’t be good enough!

You’re beautiful, baby, from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road
That’ll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me, you know you’ll always be,
My little girl.

Mel's 18th birthday

I guess anyone can tell why I fell in love with the song…..instantly, and here, I’d like to share it with all of you! Hugzzz!!!!

  1. It’s been a while since I heard you dedicating or associating a song with your daughter. Remember those good old days? Sure feels like a hundred years ago. It’s nice to see that radio station or not, you’re still dedicating and associating heartfelt songs with Mel. It makes my heart swell with the love you show towards her. Having said all that, you do realise you’re actually Mel’s big ‘teddy bear’ don’t you? The things daughters can do to twist their old man round their lil finger… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Those were the days…now hardly ever listen to TraxxFm! We’ve always been so close… Btw, that’s the cake from Kak Zee, Uncle Jerry and the Traxx family on her 18th birthday in SP, Kedah! That certainly is a memory that she will always cherish!

  2. STP,my dad and my mom living separately, because of that they still a husband and wife. I live with my mom most of the time, yes sometimes my dad will turn up and stay a few days. He is 68 now,as a typical malay man, he never know how to say that he care about us, I know he really care as sometimes he will call and texting me. Whenever we spend time together, he always try to become a good father with us.

I always touched by song about a father feeling, as it will remind me on him. He hardly tell us about how he feel or what he thinking whenever it comes to family relation, and I think, I read his mind from all the lovely song about father’s feeling.

Nowadays, he forbid me to hangingout with friends after 6pm, I know how he afraid that I will fall into a wrong hand, like this song tell us..

Usually Asian fathers are not very expressive and they do not show their emotions but it does not mean that they do not love or care for their children. I try not to be like that….

  3. i suppose you are missing your daughter so much. i hope time flies fast and like a blink you will be together with her again.

Ya, she’s coming home in mid-March for her 1-week holiday. Already booked the ticket. You wanna come too…to visit your friend here? LOL!!!

  4. I just hope u only regard this as a song, STP!…..’he won’t be good enough’….Sigh!I sincerely hope your expectations is not so high lah!I think if your potential son- in-law sees these, he would really really think twice before proposing!LOL!I don’t think he would want such intimidating father-in-law to be hovering around him for a lifetime n always trying to live up to his standard. N I do hope when she goes on her honeymoon next time,u won’t insist on tagging along as well n having inter-connecting room when booking the hotel accommodation!

No lah! I’ll leave everything to her…to make her own choices. After all, it’s her life…and I think I’ve guided her well enough to make her own decision. All I will do is to pray for what’s best for her!

  5. but i make them call me often by saying,
if u all don’t call me now, next time i have bf dy then i won’t layan u all much ๐Ÿ˜›

Aiyor…so jahat!!! I call every day…sometimes more than once, but sometimes once in a few days. I will wait until my daughter smses to ask me to call so I will not call at an inconvenient time, or she may be too tried or not in the mood to chat.

  6. Almost CNY and knowing she wont be back you so emo……Phew flooding in lots of places here. Went out to see flood waters this morning

I’m ok lah…more worried about the flood waters coming into the house! Pray!!!

  7. Agree with Clare…Called you a day after she left and you said you ok…actually you are an emotional wreck…and one day MAY become a burden…

Where got time to be emo – classes already resumed – preparations, marking…every day so tired! Old liao!!!

  8. …to her.

Hope not! Don’t intend to live that long. After all, I’ve “lived a life that’s full”…

  9. It WILL actually and not MAY.

Not really…if got planning ahead. If “eat, drink and be merry” day in, day out…then perhaps so!!!

  10. Did my dad call me everyday? Nah…once a while. Mmhh…envy yeah.

You’re not at home, staying with ur parents? Asian fathers are usually not expressive of their emotions; I try not to be like that!

  11. That’s ‘de’ cake??? Well, that’s the first I’m seeing it. Uncle Jerry did a good job at putting a smile on her face that day so big props to him.

Yes, she was so happy…despite her first time spending her birthday on her own…and her 18th some more! That was two months after she went over…and look at her fat round cheeks! Now so thin, the face so long! Sigh!!!!

  12. Cikgu… you know, there’s one song that never failed to make me cry or miss my dad… it’s Butterfly Kisses…. dammit la… this post makes me wanna call my dad and tok to him.

Love that song but my daughter hates it. Also Martina Mcbride’s In my daughter’s eyes – any song about daughter getting married and leaving the daddy, she doesn’t like! Hahahahahahaha!

  13. its the rain n CNY songs in the shopping mall make you so down – so am I. Did you watch the cartoon movie Finding Nemo-i watched it over n over again until somebody borrowed n did not return -cant even recall who took it…its time to let go of Nemo.

Didn’t watch… Haven’t watched movies for years and years except Tuesdays with Morrie on Astro and Mamma Mia.

  14. i wonder how touched if your daughter reads this post.

She reads my blog sometimes…whenever she’s free. Anyway, no need to read, also she knows lah!! No need to tell one!

  15. Re:Pollie’s comment,u watched Nemo too much, u became forgetful n turned to Dory!Hehehe!Just finished watching Golden Globe Award, can’t wait to see all the good movies, revolutionary, Benjamin Butt,Slumdog Millionaire(never knew this one so a must see for me)the penelope cruz one, etc, etc….!So happy with the Best Actress result,BUT the Best Actor one, WHAT!there is a mistake in the counting!!So mad!

Who got Best Actor? Heath Ledger…posthumously???

  16. hey nice lyrics. like the part “Chase your dreams but always know the road
Thatโ€™ll lead you home again.” ๐Ÿ™‚

Glad you like it. Many people tend to forget their roots…study and work overseas and think they’re like them already.
