Circle of life…

I received this via email and I thought I would like to share it with everybody today…

Wheels of life
Original source unknown

The first time I saw it, it brings to mind the biblical quotation that says: “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” (Genesis 3:19) This is the circle of our life.

Whether we like it or not, we are born into this world and need others to nurture and take care of us and then we go to school…

STP as a boy

…and join the insane paper chase. Once we are done with that, we will go out into the world. We toil day and night to put food on the table and to make ends meet…trying desperately to find the meaning of our being here. We plod on each passing day and at times, we may stumble and fall but we will get up again and continue our journey along life’s long and winding road. At times, we may feel unappreciated, unable to see the purpose in what we do but at other times, we may feel consoled by any recognition that we may get along the way for our blood, sweat and tears…

…but at the end of the day, when we have reached our golden years, we stop working to reap the harvest of what we have sowed over the years. As the saying goes, “Whatsoever a man soweth, that he shalt reap.”

In the words of Mother Teresa:
Life is an opportunity, benefit from it. Life is beauty, admire it. Life is bliss, taste it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life is a game, play it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is too precious, do not destroy it. Life is life, fight for it.

Have a nice Sunday, everyone!

  1. Oh Father, you are giving sermon on a Sunday morning. =) Life is beautiful, life is wonderful.

Well, frankly speaking, I really like it when you share stuffs like this (more than food). Inspirational…

Judging from the number of comments, I don;t think many will agree. That’s why I put my cute photo (LOL!!!) as a side attraction. Eee…what happened to papa? U call me Father…makes it sound like I’m a priest or something. Hahahahahahaha!!!

  2. Aiyo! So ‘comel’! Nice numbers on the licence plate. Those of u who r into 4-D,go buy now! U are so much smaller than the car then, what about now?!LOL! I always share this quote with my kids, it is one of those fridge magnet,..”DREAMS are where you’re going, Work is how u get there. Quoted by who?Donno!Where is the photo taken by the way? Not Race Course Residence?

Yalor! So ‘comel” hor! Now also…still ‘comel’! Hahahahahahaha!!!! It was taken at the Race Course Road residence, where else? You too small then, now can’t identify liao perhaps.

  3. yaya, very inspiring.. 🙂

    especially this one,
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

    Life is life, live it…..

  4. Aw..have not seen the cute photo for so long. I was expecting your small car photo. Stella, sure lah Racecourse Rd. Dont you remember the long driveway we loved so much

No scanner lah! These pics taken from my retirement powerpoint presentation, used school scanner. LOL!!!…Race Course Road. I don’t think Stella knows its present name. And all that fuss about changing the names of roads, people still use the old names…like Queensway…and Old Street!

  5. I like the words from Mother Teresa. Very inspiring. At one stage, I was wondering what I have achieved in the past 30+ years of my life.

Wait till u’ve retired before looking back. In the meantime, do something to ensure that when the time comes, you can look back with a sigh, not of regret but of satisfaction. Things only started happening for me in 1986 when I was already 34. That is why I kept pushing some younger fellas to get involved earlier…and not waste the prime time of their lives. I’m glad to say a number of them are doing very well…

  6. can we change the plot of our life??

it’s kinda scary to know that we end up like that..

The quality of the plot is in your hands. Sad that many young people simply throw their lives away like there’s no tomorrow…and even sadder that they live to regret it.

  7. Not only Stella…I think non of the JFV too. I think I know but not too sure…something like R…A…

Yup…that’s the new name, and on the other hand, I guess the younger ones may not know the original name.

  8. first it was Race Course Road, Then Jalan Sri Aman and now Jalan Awang Ramli Amit, In another 10 years time, what else??

Named after u? U’ve lived there all ur life? Hahahahahaha!!!

  9. i saw someone wearing a shirt with the letters STP on it yesterday..lol..didnt manage to take the photo!

There’s always something there to remind you of me…!!! Hahahahaha!!!

  10. I hope to be like you when I retired… to look back at my life without regrets. Tell you something, a few nights ago I dreamt that I was a innovative guru. Later, I dreamt that I am a GC. wakakaka…

Seems easy to be GC. I see some of the lousiest teachers becoming GC!!!The inspectors have a check-list. Fulfil every requirement in the list…and you’ll get it. Some even rehearsed the lessons with the students and then when the stupid inspectors came around, they put on a show. Other times, ewek…ewek…!!! Well, what goes around, comes around! It will all come back to them one day! But once you become GC, you may go up in scale…but no promotional post for u liao! Good if you really really love teaching and dun want adminstrative posts. Sad that most apply for the money!

  11. I know about that too. That’s why I never apply. I was once offered to be an inspectorate but I felt that I myself is not a really good teacher and I don’t think I can be the one to comment on others. To be a GC, I think one must be a very very good teacher.

There are good ones and there are the not-so-good ones as well. One student was not happy with the GC teaching his class and I said, “Boy, that one’s a GC, yunno!” and he replied, “Cher-mer-lan! (Meaning so useless in Mandarin) She’s over-rated!” For one thing, there are many GCs who are never involved in courses run by the department to share their knowledge, expertise and experience with the other lesser beings (except maybe, EteMS…for which virtually everybody’s involved). I wonder why…

  12. so comel – in Phu Chua Kang boots..PCK must have got the idea from you..hahhaa.

Ya…that would be way before his time! All I needed was a helmet and curly hair!

  13. Choonie…most GCs are not happy being stuck in the middle of no where. In school they are rank below the GKs when in fact they may be getting higher pay than the pengetua. No recognition at all. Yes, its all about money

And the jealousy!…People will say things like “You’re GC, you don’t know kah?” or “U GC don’t know, who knows?”

  14. Recently, Uncle Phang gave a talk in my school. One of his share to motivate us is to show us his payslip. LOL… He agreed that money is also one of the important factor to motivate the teachers. I don’t deny that money is also one of the important factor that I am considering.

I cannot believe he said that. Suddenly I’ve lost ALL respect for the guy! Sad! Very sad!…If it’s money, go sell kampua! A student once wanted to apply for scholarship, asked me to help write testimonial…kampua seller’s son and I looked at the income tax form. The father earned A LOT more than me in a year and that’s the DECLARED income!

  15. So who’s using S88Q now?

I haven’t the slightest idea. If it’s available, I’m sure it’s worth a lot of money.
