Well, you can’t really blame me for they certainly do not look very alluring or enticing…

…and definitely not in the least, appetising.
I have never been a fan of those breakfast cereals, not even cornflakes or those that the kids love a lot, for instance, the honey stars or coco crunch but I had some sprinkled over the Mulu ice cream that I had at Payung…

…and I found that I quite liked it actually.
Fast-forward to the time when we were staying at this serviced apartment in Wellington, we were given some very nice breakfast packs every morning but we never touched these…

…that were in every pack every morning, despite the fact that they had stated it ever so clearly on the packet that it was “proudly made in New Zealand”.
We collected all of them and left most of those with my friend in Auckland – they probably would eat those…and my missus took a few home to use to make her cookies for Chinese New Year…

Well, one fine day, I decided to give a go…and I poured in some fresh milk, the produced-in-Australia Devondale‘s no less…

…and let everything soak in it and I added some papayas to it…

The end result looked something like our bubur cacar…

…and wait a minute! It actually tasted great! The presence of the fruit added a bit of sweetness to it and made it even nicer. I would think it would be great with bananas too.
I don’t suppose you would find me rushing out to buy some more but if I should see it at some hotel breakfast buffet spread, I reckon I may consider having that…sometimes.
iiikkk….. u new convert or wat?
Something like that. Before this, I didn’t mind Quaker oats or Nestum with condensed milk though…
I love those type of cereals! And yah, they are nice in cookies and ice cream. But putting papaya is a bit funny for me
Give it a try…or try any fruit – bananas, kiwis, canned peaches or pears and the like…I think it’s nice.
I also not a big fan of breakfast cereal but once a while I do take fruity muesli. Yours does look like bubur cha cha. Wow. CNY is a week to go so your miss us must be busy baking. Gong xi fa chai to you and family, Arthur.
Same to you and yours. Hang on – there’ll be some Chinese New Year posts coming up soon…
Over here no nasi lemak or roti canai so no choice have to eat cereal and bread for breakfast. I usually have it with soy milk. Cereal is great with yogurt and ice cream too.
Like the Mulu ice cream.
Quaker oats and Nestum seems to be my breakfast nowadays. Goes well with raisins and bananas. Do not need the condensed milk cause of the sweetness of the fruits.
Yup, same with this one – only fresh milk and the sweetness of the papaya. Very nice!
Happy Weekend…
Same to you.
I don’t enjoy cereal with milk, I prefer to munch cereal and drink milk separately
I know, I’m odd, haha~
What’s your Chinese birth animal? Horse kah? Muahahahahaha!!!! I do know some people like Nestum just like that…as it actually tastes very nice and is not soggy from the milk.
I love cereal! It’s actually a better and healthier snacks compared to others.
I guess variety is the spice of life. Can’t imagine eating the same every day.
Hey Arthur, this is definitely healthier than eating fried koay teow or curry laksa! hahahaa… Cereal with fruits… smoother skin, younger looking!
Oh? So is that your secret? H,,,…I’d better stock up on these then… Hehehehehehe!!!!
i love muesli and all these cereals with fruits & nuts, instead of milk i have them with yoghurt, taste even better!! but they are expensive, so now i only eat cheaper oats~~ re-quoting Claire, this is definitely healthier than eating fried koay teow or curry laksa or kampua noodles!! hahaha~~ :p
Oh? Maybe it’s because you eat the cheap ones – for if it helps one to stay young, like Claire says, it certainly does not work on you. Muahahahahahaha!!!!! Sorry, sorry…can’t help it! ROTFL!!!!
I do like muesli and my dad eats it too. It’s a fiber kinda thing – easy and tasty way to get fiber in the diet so you don’t have to spend hours in the toilet (for me anyway).
Haha!
Wow! I like the Mulu ice cream and the muesli you sprinkled on top. Brought it there?
Nope, it’s originally like that. They sprinkle the muesli and stuff all over it – the finishing touch…and I found that I actually enjoyed eating it that way. Hmmm…bananas or papayas work very well for me… LOL!!!
Hey, that’s pretty good – sprinkling muesli over the ice cream. Nice finishing touch.
HAHAHAHA
Yeah, those are sweet, sweet fruits.
We must go there for that Mulu ice cream one of these nights… I bet you’ll love it!
“Bubur caca ” ala NZ style. Put in ice cream nice.
Ya, that, I’m pretty sure, would be very nice…
This is my type of breakfast. I love this cereal, because it is healthy, oil free and low in fat. I want to say this also, your wife’s oat cookies look wonderful.
Instead of papaya, I think it goes better with banana, heheheh banana is my favourite fruit ma!
I love bananas too…but that day, none…only papayas – also nice.
Not a fan of cereal too but I do love bubur cha cha. Gosh!!…this is really a healthy breakfast.
It’s nice. Give it a try. You may be converted too! Hehehehehe!!!!
I like muesli. Cornflakes or Coco crunch ke Honey star ke… not so much.
You’re old already mah! Kids love those… Muahahahahahaha!!!!
On most mornings my breakfast will be muesli with dried fruits, chia seeds and lite Greek yogurt, drizzle with either fruit compote or coulis or agave. Would rather have nasi lemak, nasi kerabu, roti canai or yang sewaktu dengannya anytime though
Same here but this is nice sometimes for a change. Maybe buy in those small packs or boxes, good enough.
Ooooer I love it too as I’m sure many others do too! So healthy sumore!
+Ant+
Well, you can add me to the list too. I do now…
Bananaz loves cereal & muesli & yoghurt. At any buffet breakfast in hotel first thing first 2 cups of yoghurt and lots of mixed fruits before going around for others.
Wah!!! I never bothered going near that section – maybe I would now. Hehehehehe!!!!
I feel jelak when I see cereal. Used to eat that every night when I wanted to go on diet :-p
I often call Photo No.1, the hamster food
It does look like it. I called it horse food…and now I’m eating it. Hope it makes me strong like a horse. LOL!!!
Very good, Arthur, very healthy. Toasted muesli, with nuts and dried fruit, is good – helps make one ‘regular’
I’m VERY regular – round!!!! LOL!!!
No problem with fresh milk? I can’t really have fresh milk. Same go to some of my Sibu, Foochow friends. Lactose intolerant or something. Can only take a bit like 200ml or so. Condensed milk is the only way to go.
Muesli with milk. Easy to prepare. No hassle. Stomach filling. Satisfying meal.
So far so good – fresh milk from Oz or NZ…or even our UHT reconstituted milk e.g. Dutch Lady. All fine by me.
Wah wah wah…..so healthy breakfast!!! So not look like you. Hahaha..I like cereal, but not muesli. I like my cereal to go with fresh milk..corn flakes or coco crunch or honey star, if got choice, I still love my nasi lemak or roti canai or noodles!!!
But now I try to drink my oat daily.
Hahahahaha!!!! People change mah!!!
Nothing like kampua, kompia, sio bee…nom…nom…nom…of course! LOL!!!
well i think i like cereals but if
I have to choose over cereals and that i would definitely
forget about cereals ahah
Think of how healthy you can be…
anyway the papaya’s color was great
i think the taste and the texture were just perfect
It tasted real good. That’s why it changed my mind about cereals…
OOo..never a fan of cereal too. But I ll force myself to take it as Claire said for healthier & smoother skin.hehehhehehe
Hahahahaha!!! All for the sake of beauty and looking young eh?
muesli i likey! but it’s pricey…so usually i make do with koko krunch! i never likey milo but adore koko krunch berry muchy, my all-day snacks
You don’t like MILO? But you like chocolate…and Koko Krunch? Strange…
I love muesli with milk and fruits. But no way will I touch papayas unless I intend to take a few days from work and camp on the throne.
What? That effective? I wish it would work just as well for me. It does work…but not to that extent. Bananas work better. Hehehehehe!!!!!
Come come send over all the cereals and muesli that you receive. I love them all. They tastes heavenly when poured into cold milk and sugar plus all the fruits you showed. Yummilicious man! No? I find the fibre good for helping my toilet business!
No more. We only brought a few packs back and I ate up all that was left after my missus had used what she needed to make the cookies.

Me too, I don’t like cereals but this looks good. Actually you can make your own cranberry crunch
No, thank you. Hehehehehe!!!!
