Didn’t I tell you I would be back?
Well, I did. Sometime ago, I told the Malay lady that I would be back because the last time I dropped by, I ordered mihun (rice vermicelli) but she served me mee (noodles) instead. She apologised for her mistake but I said that it was all right and I would go there again for her mihun the next time around.
That was in May and it was already the end of July before I managed to keep my word and went to eat her fried mihun special (RM3.50)…

…which came with a fried egg and a serving of her special beef…

…and also a calamansi lime to squeeze over all of that…

It was all right but I think I prefer her mee…

*recycled pic*
…but then again, I would always prefer mee to mihun…so some people may not quite agree with me. Which one would you rather have?

The mihun, of course… I gila mihun… >.< yellow mee always makes my tummy feel like got angin, so I dun like it.
Ah!!! Looks like we’re different then. But our yellow noodles are different – you’ll have to try when you come over.
Arthur,
You so damn (pardon the language) jahat!!!! That’s the mee that make me tak tido malam for a few days…bila close eyes only, I’ll terbayang-bayang your pics. I was so haunted by it that I kena fry my own version of the mee you had…but still cannot satisfy the craving…cis!!!!…and here you go again tayanging the blasted mee!!!!
The bee hoon look just okay-okay saja but the telur mata kerbau is perfect!!!!…crunchy on the outside but still retain that perfect telur goreng….dahsyat la you, Arthur….now I kena cancel Nando’s and cari mamak mee goreng…not close but beggers can’t be choosers! HATE YOU!!!
Hahahahahahaha!!!! I saw your attempt at frying your own and I must say that you did a very good job. I’m sure it tasted great. Not to worry, when you come over, you can try this. Can tambah pedas, if you so prefer…
Kesian Shereen, come, I sayang sayang back… Cikgu memang jahat wan… no cure liao lo.
Hahahahahaha!!!!! Aduh! Saya disalahkan pulak…
Photos very cantik, Arthur…2 thumbs up!
Got dark dark colour, not pucat pucat…of course, you suka!
I am always a mee hoon and keow teow person , won’t choose mee . Maybe like you said , the mee here got a kind of different taste and smell . :p Hmmmmm , now looking at your picture , I hv to go and look for mee hoon mamak !!!
I’ve never had mee over that side…except for Hookien mee and the mee mamak at hotels for the buffet breakfast and I quite like those. Mostly, I would be having kway teow.
Looked lke dry Mee Siam! I prefer mee hun. Mee too fattening!
If it’s Singapore mee siam, I like… Ooooo…have not had that for soooo long now. Last time was in the early 70s in Singapore. Still haven’t got down to trying to cook it myself.
I prefer mee hoon. You know what they say about meat & poison…
Ok…you can have the mihun, I’ll stick to mee. What meat? What poison? You’ve turned vegan?
Different people have different taste. I would definitely go for the fried mee as I am a great lover of mee, be it soup, kolo or fried, Nice if fried with lots of taugeh… and lagi best with chillies in soy sauce to go with. YUMMY……YUMMY!!!………..
Then you’re like me. I don’t mind mihun…but not fried this way. Mee’s nicer like this.
Is mee a male thing? Seriously – my husband, late brother, father, father-in-law and now you – all prefer mee! Is it because beehoon is too thin that males think it’s not filling enough? Or is it because when something is long, it has be thick as well? Very interesting phenomenon.
I dunno about the long bit but unless it’s the Hokkien ones, it isn’t really thick. Hmmmm….are we talking about mee here or what? Muahahahahaha!!!
Mee is always my last choice. I prefer mihun, kuey tiaw and of course, mee suah because they don’t have taste on their own so it depends on the added ingredients and gravy/ soup,
I had a bad experience with those yellow mee. During one my primary school days, I bought a packet of mee at the canteen because the mihun was sold out. I was sick at that time and coincidently, I vomited after having the fried mee and I was not able to forget the ‘alkaline water’ smell of the yellow mee for a long long time. *sorry for being disgusting here*
I am ok with kampua, kolo mee etc but those fried yellow mee with ‘alkaline water taste’ is still my least favourite. However, people around me like hubby’s family are all mee person. They eat fried mee, curry mee, claypot mee, wantan mee etc while I have mihum version for them whenever possible. My MIL knows I am scared of the smell and she always adds a bit of black vinegar when she cooks those wet fried mee to remove most of the alkaline water smell.
I think after the regular bans, the mee here is quite all right – no strong smell at all but pale and gets soggy easily if served in gravy/sauce or soup. My daughter is never a mee person either…more into mihun or kway teow – guess it’s just a matter of preference… As they say, to each his own.
Coming back to check the darn mee…yup!..still there…muahahaha.
ROTFLMAO!!!!! Muahahahahahaha!!!
LOL at Shereen’s comment.
ROTFL!!! She pura-pura only lah… You see her own mee goreng, garenti drool one… Looks so nice, taste dunno – belum cuba, belum tahu. Hint! Hint! LOL!!!
Yea, I went there some time ago and had the mee goreng with the special beef. So nice that 1 plate was not enough
Coincidentally bumped into my aunt and my mom there that very same morning and they also had the mee goreng. Praised it to the skies. ’nuff said.
Ya…my reviews pretty reliable one. Often people will tell me this is nice, that is nice…and when I went to eat, not really great. So frustrating. To me, her mihun isn’t as nice as her mee…but her nasi lemak is good too – definitely nicer than Sri Tanjung at the back.
i prefer mee, too
Aha! Another one in my gang!
You’re too nice. Last time I ordered sotong engchai, they gave me rojak instead, I sent it back. Finally was able to taste the Muhibbah satay tonite and you’re right, best in town, but still prefered the old Abang Malek.
No lah… Also edible mah, people working hard for the money so must not make life difficult for them.
Ya…so far the best that I’ve had in town, dunno if there are better ones elsewhere. Not as chunky and not so generous with the sauce unlike in our younger days…and no ketupat. I love ketupat!
Yes no ketupat, not even the ones wrapped in plastic bags. But I discovered a pangang store at the end and though not as lemak as Kate’s, are still very good, in fact, they’re cooked on the spot so they’re very fresh. Well, I found out they didn’t even make the satay themselves. When I asked ‘why so late?’ the lady said, ‘belum sampai.’
Oh? I wonder where they get their supply from. But the most important thing- they’re good…bigger than before, same price so no worries. Maybe they do it at home, so belum sampai… The one at the end? The chicken wings stall? They have panggang stalls at Bandong too in the evening… Oh! It’s thefasting month…so do not miss the Ramadhan stalls before you leave… Go to Bandong around 3 or 4 pm…or the open space opposite the Sibu Town Square. Enjoy yourself. LOL!!!
for me i like that dish “singapore fried meehoon” , very nice
So yea, i choose mihun over mee, but if given a choice, I’ll take maggi mee instead
Janice is a lucky girl – finding a guy that’s so easy to feed…and please. LOL!!
Neither mee nor mihun got kway teow? hahaha..
You would not like the kway teow here… Stick to your own over there.
i like this type of mihun . Just like the ones I had during my school time.
Can’t remember what I ate when I was in school… LOL!!!
i love both fried bihun n mee.
Standing on neutral ground, eh?
Both also I like.. mihun and mee… mihun can be eaten even when it is cold.. whereas mee is best when taken hot… if cold already, it is like eating “rubber”… hahaha….
Wah! Ipoh people share the same taste kah? LOL!!! If I were in Ipoh, I’d go for hor fun or kwayteow…no mee or mihun anymore. Over here, our kway teow not as nice, so no choice.
hmmm… this looks like the perfect supper after lots of alcohol!
When you’re too drunk to tell the difference? Muahahahaha!!!!
Usually mihun, but I don’t mind dig in a big bowl of hokkien mee since I’m a big fan of noodles!
Mee for me…but I don’t mind mihun sometimes for a change…
So unusual Mihun servings but looks nice and appetizing indeed! Drool! Drool! My saliva dripping now…. tik… tik,,,, tik……!
Come, no plans to hop over to Sibu? I’ll treat you to this and all the nice things here. You will not regret it, I assure you.
