Well, the centre that I am presently attached to hosted its annual dinner for the staff last Friday night at this restaurant…

This is one of the most established Chinese restaurants in Sibu and has been doing very well over the years.

Ooooo…cloth napkin no less! At least, it has a little bit of class unlike most places that I’ve seen/been to. It has opened its sister-restaurant in another part of town – a really immense one that is even more grand…but although the food is just as nice, there have been a lot of complaints about the service – perhaps they just cannot cope with the crowd.

Well, the dinner that night started with the more-than-Four Seasons…

…followed by the claypot seafood, in place of the not-to-be-named soup…

Then we had the roast duck…

…with the mantao (bread)…

After that, there was also the broccoli plus abalone and mushroom dish…

…and a pork combination dish…

…by which time, I was already filled to the brim and could hardly eat anymore.
There was also fried midin with belacan, replacing the local Sibu Foochow-style sio bee which some did not seem to fancy but I did not touch it at all.
However, when this dish of cheesy prawns was served, I did not care that my tummy was about to burst and threw caution to the wind…

I think I had no less than three…and it was certainly worth squeezing them into that little space left in my stomach – leaving none at all for the fruits that came last. I could not possible eat anything anymore by then…
All in all, I think that was a RM350-a-table set dinner but they had to pay RM30 extra for the changes in the menu – the claypot seafood and the fried midin.
Gosh…that was supposed to be for 10-12 persons but I would think there was enough food for at least 20! I hope to go back there again when my daughter is home for the holidays. Anybody wants to tag along? LOL!!!

Yalor…love, love…not nice also say nice! Muahahahahaha!!!
Good! The food all look so good and delicious, make me hungry.
I would love to tag along if i am there!
I book one night on your next trip home – and bring your mum along too. Your family always go to Sheraton – we can go to this one for a change.
RM350 a table? what, a 6-course set dinner? Look very scrumptious and generous! Can’t find that kind of portion at that price in Klang Valley, though.
8 courses: 7 dishes + 1 fruits… Didn’t take a pic of the fried midin that they requested for in place of the sio bee & sticky sweet yam (I love this!)… I wonder how much something similar would cost in KL. Close to 1K perhaps…
Hmm.. Golden Happiness Restaurant.. I think I have been there when I went to Sibu 6-7 years ago.. Is it behind Kawan Hotel?? If my memory serves me well, this restaurant do serve one of their cold dish combination in a wooden boat.. That was how I remeber this restaurant.. Their food presentation is always very nice..
RM380 for this dinner (with the prawns, duck and the seafood soup)- that is what I call really affordable..
PS: Yeah, at least they use proper napkins, instead of the pink colour square serviette (stuffed in the glass), which most Chinese restaurants use.
Yup! And when you wipe, it comes apart in bits and pieces… That’s right! It’s the one behind Kawan Hotel – dunno why they do not use the wooden ship for the first dish anymore. Quite dangerous though as it is long and one spin, all the glasses of drinks on the table will be sent flying… Yup! It is very affordable – I will definitely go again…but I’ll stick to the original menu – RM350 only then.
Me me! I wanna tag along!! Love the look of the four seasons platter!!
Come! I think Air Asia super sale still one…very cheap air tickets, flying 2nd half of next year. I guess the zero fares all grabbed already, no more…
Oooooo…. the prawnnn… prawn looks so yummy. Too bad I dunno how to make these… bet the budak kecik and the budak besar at home would love these!
Can always modify… This way is also quite nice – and you can fry instead of bake: http://suituapui.wordpress.com/2009/04/07/youll-never-find/.
Wow, your foodography is so good, it makes my mouth water. That 6 seasons (?) dish looks delicious!
Not really… A few of the photos out of focus…or perhaps my hands were not steady enough. When there is insufficient light, I have a bit of a problem taking nice photos.
I miss all the food you display here. Make me hungry and cannot taste it at the moment.
By the way, this time the photos look clear and sharp. You buy a new camera?
Where got? Not all – a few were not so good. That’s the problem with indoor/night shots…but at least the restaurant is not as dim as some others. Ya…drool away and have a few shots of Russian vodka! Then you will not miss anybody or anything anymore. LOL!!!
oh my goodness… it makes me super duper hungry….look at the desert in the middle of the plate… so tempting…
Dessert, you mean? Where? The salad in the 1st dish? That was nice – prawn and fruit cocktail. Yum! LOL!!!
Looks like a good place. Will have to give it a try. How does it compare with Sheraton?
Both are just as good. People say this one’s a bit coarse (so the portions are huge) while Sheraton is more refined. I like both of them…and Blue Splendour as well – haven’t been there for a long time now.
Your happiness is all about eating ar? :p
I want abalone *drooling*
At my age, not much to be happy about anymore… Ya…you can have all the abalone you want – I can’t eat that anymore. No teeth to chew….Sobs!!!
Likey Autumn Belle’s ‘foodography’..of which I always say great shots & good foodie post..nice food presentation love all of em. tQ
Yup…all the dishes very well-arranged…and very delicious too! Hmmmm…not all the shots lah! Some not sharp, just a couple of good ones. Luck!
Ah…food food food!
My stomach grumbles. ^_^
I can hear it from here! Muahahahahahaha!!!!
hey you had sharks fins soup?!! notti notti…
No, we didn’t! They substituted it with that claypot seafood dish. Hehehehehe!!!! Our hands are clean!
