Rantings, ravings & ramblings of a rollicking mind

I can’t help myself…

I couldn’t help myself but when I saw Cleffairy’s post on the corn fritters that she made, I went out and bought myself some cucur sambal

…which were very nice (4 for RM1.00) but the sambal inside was kind of nutty – something that tasted like satay gravy. I think I would prefer something like the sambal that we usually get with our nasi lemak

It did not help either that Gerrie posted some photos of the sambal that she made on Facebook…

Gerrie's sambal tumis

…and got me drooling away, so I just had to drop by my regular Malay food stall in Bandong to see what they had. I thought perhaps I could get some sambal petai but  they did not have any. I did manage, however, to buy some sambal timun

…which was really good and for RM2.00, I would think that was a steal. Furthermore, at least I did not need to go through the trouble of making my own sambal udang kering (dried prawns) to go with some cucumber.

Now, I’ve yet to see Stella’s photos of her lor mee – she said the other day that she would be cooking some…after drooling over the photos of the pork rib noodles that I had featured in an earlier post. I guess she could not help herself either. LOL!!!

The cucur is ok to me… I mean, i would have prefered it better if it’s sambal ikan bilis…or sambal udang….but the sambal timun and sambal tumis is to die for. I’m drooling. those are yummy! I bet the sambal timun would go well with kari kepala ikan!!! GAWD…. *DROOL DROLL*~!

Exactly!!! Not that crazy over the sambal – have tasted others that are nicer. Sambal timun with fish head curry? Usually there will be all the veg in the curry already…. I usually would not cook anything else – all-in-one.

  3. ohhh… I like satay gravy, never have it with ‘cucur’(here we also call ‘cekodok’) though!

    Happy Sunday to you!

It’s nice…just that I prefer the nasi lemak sambal. And a Happy Sunday to you too! :)

  4. Anything that has got sambal is heavenly, enough to get me going for more helping of rice

LOL!!! You did not try when you cooked? Tambah a bit of this, tambah a bit of that? That’s why I never can follow recipes – better to get the idea and go about it agak-agak! That’s why I cannot make cakes! Well, hope to see the pics soon! :)

  6. Oh boy! Be still my heart. An assault of sambal !! *drool

Hahahahaha!!!! Gets you all excited, doesn’t it? Wait till you’re overseas – it will be even more torturous! :D

  7. Eat these warm…. crispy hot will make me croak the next day… oooh.. it is 10.55am now… my stomach is growling.. ok going out now to buy something good!

Better to let it cool a bit…or if you must take it hot, do not drink cold water or cold drinks with it – otherwise, guarantee sore throat! So what did you go and buy? Something nice? :)

    • Went to eat noodles (loe shu fun) with minced pork… one big bowl.. now very full …. sleepy too! :)

Sunday today…eat and sleep! This is the life! ;)

  8. is it too early for lunch right now? =/

Not really. 11 already – can have brunch. breakfast plus lunch, just nice for a lazy Sunday! :)

  9. “Tham-chiaks”-r-us! How to avoid food when we greet each other with “have you eaten?” instead of “how are you?”. LOL!

Yalor…eating is our culture. We eat to live AND live to eat. LOL!!! :D

  10. am drooling at the sambal timun…Not really keen of cucur things. Maybe cos fried. I get sore throat very easily

You have tonsilitis? Anyway, not good to take deep fried things too much…and don’t take straight from the wok. Some people love that – said it’s nicer. I usually wait till they have cooled down a bit…

Ah jie ah… u dun like fry things nvm…you give me, I makan for u. LOLOL!
