Would you believe me if I say that the way we eat reflects who we are? It has been said that we are what we eat. Can it be true also that we are how we eat?

Lawyers, for instance, must be aggressive. They will have to attack the defendant and tear him apart, ripping him into pieces…so as to get into the bottom of things. Is it any surprise at all that this was the aftermath after a lawyer had been through with his grilled imported sardine? Hahahahahaha!!!

Teachers are different. They are prim and proper. They go through things slowly, systematically step by step…taking care that everything is neat and trim and they go through it all so very thoroughly to ensure that nothing is left out. This is what’s left of the grilled imported sardine after a teacher has finished with it…

And this is the work of another teacher. See! Don’t you notice the similarity? LOL!!!

Well, those of you who think you know me very well, can you guess which one my “masterpiece” is? 1…2…or 3? LOL!!!
Jokes aside, actually, I went back to Red Carrot for lunch with my daughter and my friend, Jimmy, from Bintulu who is also a teacher. I had been wanting to go back there since my last visit with my lawyer friend/ex-student, Louis J…as I tried a bit of his sardine and it was really very very nice. Jimmy would certainly vouch for me on that.
My daughter had their grilled lamb chop (RM12.50)…

She said that the lamb was nice but the veg on the side was a bit too salty and the so-called butter rice tasted something like chicken rice. I was particularly attracted by the glasses they use to serve the drinks. They certainly look like jam jars, don’t they?

So, if you have never been to Red Carrot, it’s about time you drop by. The grilled imported sardine is a must-have (at only RM8.90)…but if you are not a fish person, there are lots of other things that you may want to try. It’s on the 1st floor – above the Sugar Bun outlet at the Delta Commercial Centre here in Sibu.
See you there…

i would say 1 is urs…..
Wrong! Already said that’s a lawyer’s “work of art”! Hahahahaha!!!!
ops wrong wrong wrong…. is d 1st of d neat one, 2nd picture, hahaha
Ummm…will keep you in suspense first. Won’t reveal the answer just yet!
i would say No.3. next time get a picture of how a doctor attack the fish..lol. vv interesting topic.
Will reveal the answer later, you’ll have to wait! LOL! A doctor would probably make a clean cut to get to everything inside to eat and then staple it back together again. Last time, they used to stitch – now they staple! LOL!!!
I certainly believe that how we eat reflects who we are in one way or another. Hahahaha! By the way how does accountants like KNB eat?
PS: I know of another lawyer who also eat like Louis J, most of the time with vengeance! LOL!
You do? Hahahahaha!!! So how do YOU eat? An accountant would eat one side first, counting exactly how many bites…and then do the same on the other side, and they will tell you whether it balances or not! Hahahahahaha!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! So that means kpenyu eats like Louis J as well?
I eat like you lar, have to turn every corner and scrap the meat clean. Whenever I eat prawns, I’ll peel off the head, open the head into half and eat the meat (or brain) hidden there. That’s the juiciest part IMHO
If crispy enough, I’ll even eat the shell. Hehehehe!!!
2nd picture, still got a little meat near the head and tail. I’ll probably eat those
Hahaha! 3rd picture, still got meat at the tail. I love tail part of fish. Will be the first to grab the tail while the rest fight for the tummy, head, etc. Hehehe
That, you’ll have to ask kpenyu himself! LOL!!!…Hey! The best part of the fish is the head – the sides where you get rid of the insides. My daughter also loves the tail too though – dunno why. Wah!!! So this is how an assessor eats – hampalang sapu clean-clean. You suck the head or not? Oops! I mean the head of the prawn! ROTFLMAO!!!
Kpenyu MIA already
Greeted Merry Christmas on FB chat a couple of days ago and then disappeared
Hahaha! Fish tail not much bones mah, only got big ones. I don’t like it whenever I’m enjoying the fish and then suddenly bite into small bones. Sometimes, the bones poke my gum so painful. That’s why I like stingray – bakar and asam-curried
Of course suck clean the head of the prawn also! No wonder people say I eat prawn so slow. They normally peel head off, peel shell off, dip in sauce and eat. No suck, no lick
If kena poke, mestilah painful! That’s why must go slow-slow and be very careful. The tua-thow hay (big head prawn)…if got the gooey stuff inside – must suck and lick one! Really delicious – the best! But they say that contains the highest cholesterol level. Never mind, enjoy now…regret later! Hahahahahaha!
I think 2nd picture wan is yours because you just mentioned that you like the fish head, especially the sides and that particular area in that 2nd picture is missing whereas the one in the 3rd picture is still intact. Hahahaha!!!
Fuiyoh! I love the tua tao hay lor…can just suck and lick, no need eat the body also can. The body no taste compare to the head. Hahahaha! Don’t care about the cholesterol level now, I am sure mine is shooting off the chart already. Hehehehe!!!
All the hay talk make me want to eat prawn only…miss kpenyu’s monster prawns *hint hint* I forgot to take pictures before eating those *regret*
Ya…those prawns were really out of this world! This Christmas, must call him AND sms him to wish him…maybe got hope – will get some more in future. Hahahahahaha!!!!
Hahaha.. none of them are yours, knowing you, you would probably swallow the bones and lick the plate sparkling clean XD…
Aiyooooor! So bad! Gee! You’d better stay far far away from me for you are becoming exactly like…me! So mean and sarcastic! Hahahahaha!!! But you’re probably right!
Lolz… Nice post !! Good explanation !! xD … If not mistaken the second pic is yours?? Haha… If there’s another choice with an empty plate like what xavier said up there I would like to say that’s yours’!!! LOL
Hi Ivan! Haven’t seen you around for a while. Gee! What’s with the young people today? So mean to old people! Hahahahahaha!!! But frankly, if I were eating at home, you two would probably be right. LOL!!! 2nd pic? Well, wait for the answer…
out of 3 pictures…1st already out (kautim by the lawyer)….I think, urs will be the 1st photo… and im quite sure that I got it right…jeng! Jeng! jeng!!
shall wait till u review the answer….. LOL!!
You mean the 1st of the remaining two photos? Well, wait…wait! Hahahahaha!!!
can’t believe the way you eat can really tell your personality. It might be true in some ways… hhaahha like I never leave a single grain of rice in my bowl?!! what does it mean? I’m a glutton? hahha
That reflects good upbringing…and if it is true, you will marry a guy with a smooth facial complexion. When we were small, we were told to always lick our plates clean or else we would end up marrying some poke-faced partner! LOL!!!
My take? Both also yours. Ooooooo! LOL… who knows you cheat us leh? Say got two teachers there, but actually order two fish and wallop urself? LOL…
Anyway…I don’t eat fish that got bones. The bones effectively repel me from eating them, no matter how nice they are.The only fish that I eat is probably dory fish and the stingray. Cuz wun choke!
Aiyor…teachers always tell the truth one! There were two teachers and one teacher-to-be having lunch that day. Kesian…you don’t eat all the nice fish – the over RM200 a kg freshwater fish from the Rejang River like empurau, tangadak and semah…taste like heaven, I tell you….but a lot of small bones!
LOL…if ur not bluffing, den my take is the 3rd. LOL… could have sworn that the other ‘teacher’ you mention was your girl. LOL…
I dun dare to eat la… those tulang tulang gives me the creep arrr! How to eat? Summore so mafan… nid to pick out the bones! I choked on bones til my face turned purple over my grandma’s ‘ikan sumbat’ and her ginger steamed fish… til now cannot forget! LOL…
LOL!!! Like my BIL…phobia when eating fish! Will even choke on the bone when eating bawal hitam – where got small bones one! And had to go to ENT specialist to get it removed! RM30. Hahahahahaha!!!
I stopped eating fish altogether for a few years after I choked on fish bone when I was 8 and had to go to the clinic to get it removed. Traumatized! Forgot what type of fish was that and definitely not bawal. But resumed eating fish after that
Cannot tahan, fish too nice to avoid anyway
I’ve had bones stuck in my throat – just take rice, make into a ball and swallow. But once I could not get hold of any rice…and it was a big bone…I just used my fingers to pull it out. No big deal! Hehehehe!!! But I know of someone who choked on a chicken bone – had to operate…and something when wrong – got hole…and everytime she talked, she whistled. Had to go back to surgery again… Now vegetarian and slim, last time, very fat!
i guess, the second one is yours.
I guess on the picture, yours one is right in front of you, whereby the other fish, i can see another ‘teacher’s” jeans. ahhahahha…AM I RIGHT?????
Wah! You’re a detective by profession? Hahahahaha!!! Wait…will reveal the answer soon!
All 3 is urs?
You’re poking fun at me hor! Hahahahaha!!! Wish I could have ALL three as it really is very nice!
I’ll say the 2nd one is yours. You know you’re gonna take a picture of it and blog about it so you make yours especially neat! and the fork is on the left and knife is on the right.. most likely to be yours.. lol…
Besides.. The angle of the pictures tell me that in the 3rd picture.. you’re taking it from your point cz that’s is definitely not your tummy in the picture..
Not my tummy? What’s my tummy like? Smaller? Or a lot bigger? LOL!!! Wow…everybody’s studying the photos so closely today – right down to the positions of the cutlery!
I’ll put my money on Number 2. I would think that you of all people would practise proper dining etiquette. Number 2 is the only one with the sharp end of the knife facing away from the fork. As for No 1… tsk tsk. Mr LJ, so messy lar. haha
The positions of the knife and fork are purely coincidental. I thought usually in fine dining, when you have finished, you cross your knife and fork to indicate that…and the waiter/ess is supposed to remove the plate?
OK…now the moment you have all been waiting for *drumroll…
Most of you got it correct – mine is NUMBER 2!
Yes yes yes ! Hahaha.. *start collecting money*
What? Don’t tell me you’ve been betting? LOL!!!
for the sex of the photo u simply eat nice nice lar…1 knew ur normal pattern of eating wil b 1st picture…for me the fish head oso gone liao…
the lokam i mean is orange lar…btw im planning go kl on january b4 i going bk kch on feb as it wil take me smts visiting kl again…
Hahahahaha!!! What sex? Chesh!!! No lah…memang I eat very neat and clean like that one – the person also like that! LOL!!! Oh? When in January, you’ll be going to KL? Maybe if I go same time,we can meet there? I will ask your khai ma…

There, you’ve said it again – sex! Hahahahaha!!! Rumour has it that my daughter has to attend a briefing in KL either on the 13th or 15th January, so it should be around that time…
Hello there. I bumped into this blog by accident while scanning The hourglass Song of a long time ago. I like the contents of the site. They reflect similar thoughts to mine …on life, learning,. living, etc. I am Malaysian and lived in several places abroad for the last 34 years and have been living in the US for 22 years. Like you, I visit Penang (my favorite place) for some quiet time.
I can be reached at the e-mail above if you want to exchange thoughts and just chat. Usually, I just squat out in Png, have little to do with anyone, eat out a little but mostly sit by the beach in Ferringhi and read. This constitutes my small R&R every year!
Welcome, Das. For a while, I thought you were the lawyer that went by the same name but if I’m not mistaken, he’s residing in Kuching… You come back every year to Penang? That’s nice… Perhaps you would like to try Sarawak for a change some day. Cheers!
hehehehehe im the messy eater ah? the fish was really good….we lawyers do eat with a vengeance…no mercy like what we do to our opponents…anyway it was fun to read this post and the comments. so KNB…im in kuching until sunday….wanna show me your eating skills? i take photos after that & we compare….hahahahahaa cheers folks!
Oops! The lawyer’s here! Thank goodness…he’s not taking legal action against me! Hahahahaha!!! Ya, go and have ikan sardine panggang with KNB…and take a photo of his “work of art” when he has finished. Then I can analyse how accountants eat…
clean fish! I would say the first picture of the cleaned fish is yours
. don’t ask me why I chose that… just instinct ^_^.
If you mean the 1st pic, then you’re wrong…but if you mean the 1st of the clean cleaned fish, then you’re right!
hahaha poor fishy…i think you cleaned out the fish pretty well…that would be your piece!
It was nice…and I’m not a messy eater…or at least I would clean up after me!
