Rantings, ravings & ramblings of a rollicking mind

One-way ticket…

Well, it certainly would be a one-way ticket to the blues should you happen to get one…especially when you are not in the wrong.

Yes, we do pay parking fees here in Sibu – 42 sen for 30 minutes/half an hour. They were saying that it is more expensive than in the other towns in the state…but I don’t really know. It does not matter that much to me either as I do not always go out.

We use the scratch system here, so you will have to buy those coupon booklets and keep in your car and everytime you park your vehicle some place, you can just scratch a coupon or more and display on your dashboard. I have no complaint about that – very convenient and you do not need to worry about soggy coupons soaked in the rain, running around trying to hunt a parking attendant down to pay and all those inconveniences.

But the other day, I got a ticket for overparking…

Parking ticket 1

I parked my car in the vicinity of the Dewan Suarah here in Sibu at around 3.50 p.m. and I displayed a 30-minute coupon. I made sure that I scratched the time very clearly on the coupon…

Parking ticket 2

Add 30 minutes to that and it would mean that I could leave my car there until 4.20 p.m. However, when I got back to the car, I found this…

Parking ticket 3

The ticket stated that I was overparked up to 4.04 p.m. What the heck! There would be another 16 minutes before the time expired.

Ah well! Never mind! I guess those attendants are not very highly paid and their job isn’t all that easy – walking around especially on hot days. After all, the compound fine is only RM1.00…but I do hope that it doesn’t happen all the time! I’d better keep the coupon and ticket just in case they may, for some reason or other, decide to make a habit of this and if that happens, Mr. Hu, you will most certainly find me knocking on your door…

Hey! Wait a minute! Good golly Miss Molly!!! I had scratched the wrong date on the coupon! *slaps head!…Silly ol’ me!!! The 22nd was Tuesday – a public holiday and there is no necessity to pay parking fees on public holidays! I should have scratched the 23rd instead!!! Phew! That parking attendant was observant enough to notice that but she was obviously too kind to slam a compound fine on me. Thank God for small mercies! That would have been RM20.00 instead of RM1.00 for not putting a valid parking coupon…and it was a good thing too that I didn’t go to the booth and kick up a fuss over the ticket… That would be so embarrassing, wouldn’t it? LOL!!!

  1. Hahaha! You kena saman ar? Kesian! LOL :D

Fined. Not really a saman lah! I am a law-abiding citizen! Hehehehehehe!!!!

  2. Yeah! I’m the FC ar? The summon is only RM1? Wow! Not very strict huh! Perhaps something is wrong with their watch? Ha :D

You didn’t read till the end of the post! Nothing wrong with the parking attendant or her watch! It was MY mistake… Old man, absent-minded! :(

  3. I’m first! Your car’s number is QSBXXXX. Tomorrow buy toto or magnum. The parking coupons for Sibu is so damn expensive compared to Kuching and Bintulu. The tickets here are also 2 times more expensive that the two cities. Sigh, SMC really know how to cut our throat!

No, you’re not!…Wah! You took the trouble to check out my car number. Go, go and buy! Many have already struck it rich buying my car number but not me. I don’t gamble…anymore.

Ya, expensive and yet so difficult to find parking spaces. They should raise the fees to 63 sen in the town centre…and lower it to 22 sen in the deserted areas like Rejang Park or Dewan Suarah. Doesn’t really matter to me as I seldom go out anyway….

  4. Oh crap. Kena overtake by tekkaus!

LOL!!! Well, slow and steady does not always win the race…

  5. only RM1? hah..
damn, i got fined the other day too..
but my bad.. i forgot to put the parking ticket..
here in ipoh we use the scratching ones too.. =)

Forgot is not an excuse! Hahahahahaha!!!! At least I did put a coupon…but now that I’ve retired, I’m not always sure of what date it is…most of the time!

  6. in ipoh it’s only cost 30 sens for half an hour. hehe.

From me to you, suejean =)

See! It’s cheaper even in Ipoh! But even though it’s more expensive here, the parking spaces are always full…and people resort to illegal parking! A real nuisance!

  7. yo… so cheap 1rm for the blunder?? over here, i kena few times already, all 40rm but if pay within 2 weeks, then reduced to either 20rm or 30rm.. if appeal personally, 20rm… so darn expensive… so sometimes even if i go down for 10 min or so, i will still scratch the coupon.. wouldnt want to save the 30sen to be slapped with 30rm!!

Bad, bad boy!!!…Have you got your car already in Penang? Keep to the rules all the time, eh? Here, the fine for not putting a coupon is RM20, but if paid within 3 days, it’s RM14. Dunno why the odd figure!…And btw, welcome to my blog! You’re claire’s son, aren’t you? Why didn’t you put the link to your blog? Will add you to my blogroll….soon!

P.S. Oops! You’re not the one in Penang. That’s Andy! Mixed up liao! LOL!!!

  8. lucky laaa my place still kampung, dont need to pay for parking, but we surely have to rebut rebut for the very little parking space lah, even my office place dont have covered parking, somemore have to rebut rebut with people, so lame lah

Where are you based RIGHT NOW?….I may be going over to Sg Petani in November to help my anak move back all her things. Hope we can get to meet then…

  9. hi..sometimes i did that do but i realised it so i had to put a new one..hehe..

Ya…scratch the wrong date only to realise it when it’s already too late! Waste one coupon just like that…

  10. that’s why i hate those scratch parking cards! So troublesome. And the compound is on RM1?!!! wow so cheap!

Ya…that’s why I did not make a fuss… If it had been the RM20 compound fine, I probably would…that is if I’m not in the wrong.

hey, STP…how come my name was under aaron? how could this happen? i signed in under reanaclaire, not aaron.. how come there is no link whatsoever.. u have another aaron under yr comment too… is he your fren?
oh gosh… is this my blunder or what.. i dont understand it… no, my son didnt comment anything, how come the comment is under an AARON, funny geh… can u solve the solution to this?
when i commented this morning, i didnt realize it… but as far as i know, my kids were still sleeping when i on my pc….

No idea! The other aaron’s ok… Different guy/blogger.

Your aaron was awaiting moderation and this was his email aaronlai25[AT]gmail[DOT]com, the same as his blog address…and that was at 10.20 a.m. There wasn’t any link to his blog.

No sign of YOUR own comment except this one. Probably he used the computer last night and you forgot to change the saved password/details… Gee! And I thought he dropped by my blog. Have to go and remove the link liao….

P.S. And there’s no link to your blog on this comment either.

P.P.S. I just noticed! The i.p. numbers for BOTH comments are identical – exactly the same. Now, YOU go and sort this out…

    • funny..i didnt notice it this morning when i commented.. yeah, he was the last one last night…next time i better check my ID before i simply comment.. hehee… blunder upon blunder and it is sunday morning… must be still in sleepy mode!

That happens all the time with mother and son on the same PC/laptop – like my regular, Gundot and her son – what-the-fiq, it has happened too…. Should clear browsing data after use.

  12. Eh. why is your car number has X over it?

Never put complete car, phone, IC or whatever numbers and personal details on the internet…even your email address, use [AT] and [DOT] to avoid those trackers… You typed early and it was much later that I removed the number – it could have been tracked down already! They’re VERY fast! Like my name, for example. Gone case liao – you just google and all kinds of things come out!

  13. I dont pay my fine – was told they will not renew your road tax until u settle the fine..so far I hv no problem with that…and I have sold off my car nobody come after me…haha…ssshh

I heard something like that too – probably no coordination between the council and the JPA, but I don’t dare… Always very kwai one! LOL!!!

  14. Parking fees cost the same in Miri. But I noticed that you don’t need to pay for lunch break. In Miri, there is no such thing.

However, we do have places that cost only 42cents per hour.

Ya, the attendants usually leave around 11.30…and will not be back till after 2.00. Lunch break is actually from 12- 2…so no parking coupons needed around that time. That’s why I usually go to town around that time e.g. to go to the bank and stuff…

  15. yeah, happens to me in kuching as well… paying it is a real hassle…

Don’t remind me! I drove to Kuching when the thing first started and stopped for lunch on the way to the hotel…and was slapped with a compound fine so fast I did not know what hit me. The worst part was trying to look for the office in some God-forsaken place – Petanak or something to pay the fine. Luckily I could find it!…At least, in Sibu, we can pay the fines and other charges at the booths located all over the town.

  16. ROTFL!!!!!!

    :(

  17. I have 3 tickets from the local council…i tot they will not find out the owner, after all it’s company car…mana tau, the fleet management staff called and tell me that i have to pay coz they received the letter from the local council…2 from north which is in Prai…and one is in Subang, total compound is about RM+/- 150 at least..normal car is RM30, for pick up is RM60… arrrgghh!! no choice still have to pay la…

So nice, RM1 compound…kena pun tak terasa la… LOL!!

Aiyor…poor you! So kesian. Next time, must follow law tau!!! Wow! RM30 for a car – more than the fine here in Sibu! I dunno if they double that for pick-ups!!! They should! Usually those driving such vehicles – very rich…and always illegal parking! LOL!!! Oops…sorry!

  18. The napkins reminded me of lipsticks! Haha

You’re very imaginative…but don’t let your imagination run wild. Hahahahahaha!!!! I guess this comment should be for the Sheraton post…

  19. Oops, think I commented on the wrong post!

So I’ve noticed. Your first time here? Welcome, thanks. Now I’ve two Williams, so I think I’ll add you on my blogroll as William2. Dropped by your blog – looks interesting. Will hop over again when I’ve time to browse through all your posts…

  20. Pollie’s right. Heard that if you don’t pay up your fine, there’s nothing they can do. Like stp, am also very kwai. Will pay up immediately. In Kuching, we don’t use the scratch system so it’s very easy to reuse the coupon. Maybe there are more honest people in Kuching?

I know that poke hole system! LOL!!!…We used to have that here too…but I guess people kept reusing the coupons (I was one of them! Hahahahaha!!!) and in the end, the council gave up and changed to the scratch system.

I pay only when i remember to pay within the 3 day period. After that, they just slam an additional RM10 compound on top of the overparking charges which i find is totally ridiculous. So when that happens, just throw the saman into the dustbin lar. So far i havent heard of anyone getting into trouble for not paying up. I guess the “contractor” for the parkings is already making too much money to be bothered to report on those who dont pay up.
The road tax renewal is only applicable for police and JPJ summons. Not the council punya.

Yup…so I’ve been told. Guess it’s not worth the trouble running after the bad hats like you or maybe most are very obedient…like me! LOL!!!
