Now! Now! What’s this that I read about stp!!! Bongkersz said something to Cibol in response to the latter’s comments that I only go out to eat and then post on the food! That’s absolutely and blatantly untrue!!! Now as everybody knows, I have posted on some of the things that I have enjoyed at some of the eating outlets outside BUT I have also posted on some of the dishes that I have cooked ALL BY MYSELF!
Last Friday, for instance, I fried the leftover cabbage that I still had in the fridge after using some of it for the sayur masak lemak that I had cooked a day or two earlier and here’s the proof…..

I’m sure everyone can cook this dish! Just heat a little bit of oil in the wok, throw in some chopped garlic and when it has turned lightly brown, throw in the cabbage, cut in thin strips, add one or two beaten egg(s)…and finally, sprinkle a bit of salt and msg according to taste. And it being a Friday, I would not be eating meat…so I cut a bit of my ikan terubok masin and fried it…..

Then, this morning, I cooked a variation of the Bovril mee sua that I cooked a few days ago. Now instead of the mee sua, I used two pieces of those egg noodles that you can buy in packets at the supermarkets…and instead of the half-boiled free range eggs, I fried one nui pau (egg purse) and presto!!! I managed to keep the yolk intact! Clever!!! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!

Whew! Luckily I have concrete evidence to protect my good reputation! So Bongkersz, you’ll have to eat your words now!!!! Next time, don’t simply say liao!!! Of course, time and time again, I will post on things that I eat outside…especially when they are very nice so that others may go and enjoy them too. Now I definitely would not encourage anyone to go for this fried kway teow in tomato sauce that I had for brunch on Sunday…

nor this fried kway teow (minus the tomato sauce) that my missus had…at Kin Coffee Hut, Pusat Tanahwang here in Sibu.

The mee sua in chicken soup is fine…and the lor mee at the other stall there is also worth trying!
Then, today, I went to Ruby again with two pretty ladies who happened to be in town and we had their specialty, the Pandan Chicken…..

Bengbeng will definitely give TWO thumbs up for this dish…and in the background, you can see the fried mee sua that Clare would die for! We also had a few other dishes but I was so caught up in the captivating conversation and the delightful company that I forgot to take the photographs. Ah well…another time perhaps!!! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!

Hmmm…food glorious food again. Must be disciplined so as not to be tempted by your food posts. Am trying to eat according to my metabolic type! You post lots of starchy carbo laden meals, and I have a weakness, a carb addict!!
I had brown rice for dinner, and it was surprisingly good, nutty flavour. I added a tsp of salt and 2 tsps of butter just as it was almost done. Maybe that enhanced the flavour. I will cook it without the salt and butter tomorrow.
Not me! Or at least as far as rice is concerned! Don’t mind noodles!

If you, cibol and bongkersz do perang masak-masak…. can I be there and be the judge that taste the food??? LOL
My cooking skill is very limited to simple food like that cabbage of yours… and I’m so happy when Grandma sends over nice food to us… which is almost everyday now! LOL last night she sent fish soup and sambal ikan masin .. you can make that one too eh, STP?
If you can, make that should I visit you someday, that’s my favourite!
Always wanted to try the dry sambal ikan masin…where you have to pound the salted fish but too lazy lah! Or do you mean the one in chunks with thick sauce like acar? I can make sambal udang kering though! Hmmm….maybe will make one of these days and post on it!

They sell a lot of these in Kuching.. I heard.
Got it free from that aunt in Jackfruit Village…and never look at a gift horse in its mouth! Very fresh though…and nice!!!…Well, I’m very clean and organised when I cook but when it’s the old missus cooking, it’s a totally different story! LOL!!!

oh..STP you can write a cook book. I bought some big fresh water prawns and iban brinjal today. i remember you used to cook that nice dish long ago when I was your next door neighbour. can you give me the receipe? TQ.
What recipe? Just throw in the pot a bit of belacan, a chilli or two amd one or two stalks of serai….together with the prawns and the terung dayak (cut into slices like apples! I usually remove the seeds as much much as possible as it makes the soup messy!) and boil till the terung gets cooked (soft). Add salt according to taste. No need for msg as the prawns already sweet and your terung must be ripe enough so the soup will be a bit sourish!

Stella
Pollie cook that receipe for me when u in miri ok. i haven’t eaten that food for ages, iban brinjal is ‘lakia keo’ right, the yellow round one? i never knew how to cook it too so it is good we have STP around who knows all these nyonya melanau dishes isn’t it. so STP keep up the good job with your food bloggin, do not have iban brinjal here, what can i use to substitute, tomatoes?pls advise, thks!
I’m afraid I don’t think there’s any substitute. Tomatoes are so different. You’ll just have to come home to eat! LOL!!!…Pineapples may be a good substitute, cooked the same way (not with kunyit/tumeric), though! I’ve done that once. Not bad…but it’s a different dish lah!

i was flat out tired last nite after 30mins on my Wii.
then i thought of the bovril mee-sua u blogged about. cooked 2 packets of instant noodles, found an unopened bottle of bovril which was labeled ‘Best before 02/08/06′. I made myself a bowl of real nice bovril noodles with 2 soft boiled eggs.lol
