I’ve got some more things here to share on the rising petrol prices. You may recall that in the previous post, I mentioned the absence of traffic jams during lunch hour in the town centre. Frankly speaking, that is not normal; well, even though there were no jams, there would be a lot of cars on the road. That was why I would go out to go my marketing around 6.30 a.m. so as to get back home before 8.00 a.m. when the traffic would get busier.
But when I went to town the other morning between 8 and 9.00 a.m. the roads were quite deserted, like 7 in the morning…and the following day, at 10.00 a.m. it was more or less the same. Today, when I took my daughter out for lunch, there were definitely more cars but I did not need to stall here, there and everywhere and parking spaces were easily available.
I am sure everybody’s trying to cut down on fuel consumption, otherwise it would burn a hole in their pockets…..

…for filling up the fuel tank would simply mean emptying their wallets. But then of course, some may be worse hit than others…and those of us who have been humiliated and bullied all this while by those huge petrol-guzzling vehicles can now have the last laugh…

I heard on the news today that there would not be any more increase for the rest of the year…but from past experience, we should know better than to believe everything we hear. Let’s just hope that it would not get much worse…..

Imagine petrol becoming more expensive that Chanel No. 5! Imagine if everytime you want to fill up at the petrol station, you will need to apply for a loan approval like buying property…

(Hmm…isn’t that in essence, the same as what many people have been doing all this time – paying by credit card?) Well, I don’t know how long this absence of heavy traffic on Sibu roads is going to last…but I do not expect it to go on for long. Just like when we had to pay for parking, all the vehicles disappeared into thin air or people found all sorts of places to park their cars for free and just stopped short of suspending them from the trees…..but after sometime, finding a parking space became such a pain again.
Anyway, the fact remains that they have increased the petrol prices and those of other essential items have escalated as well, so we should find ways and means to reduce our expenditure and save…..

(and since there is this scarcity of beef in Sibu, rearing cows may be a wiser alternative! You can sell the milk and the meat to supplement your income!)…and cut down on our use of petrol like this school bus driver…..

Somehow, if we put in some effort, instead of just complaining incessantly and moaning and groaning day in, day out, we can work it out or at least, make things a little bit better. Think positive…for every cloud has a silver lining!!!

Tuition fees got increase or not? heheh
No, what I charge is relatively higher…compared to the other subjects, so I wouldn’t want to add to the already-burdened parents. Hehehehehehe!!!

I felt it jor
cant.. go for photo taking at beanch beanch jor… kekekekekeek
Not early lah! Not here at least! The deserted roads show that the people are trying to save on fuel…which is, in fact, a good thing for the economy and the environment!

Well, our country is facing economic defecation. Oops ! I mean defection. Haha.
Yeah, we should all learn to be thrifty when it comes to spending. But hopefully, the economy will improve soon. Just can’t stand all those news about oil price hike everyday. Getting a bit annoyed !
I guess you don’t feel the pinch because you are not the one to fork out the money to pay for the fuel…or for that matter, everything else!!! And I don’t think “defection” is the right word to use, wherever you learn that from! In fact, “defaecation”, also spelt as “defecation” would have been more correct word considering the fact that the economy of the world in general and the country specifically is indeed…..shitty!!!!

Yeah… dun believe what we hear. It always not true, especially from the sleeping prince. Today, no election, tomorrow parlimen dibubarkan. Today, no petrol hike, tomorrow RM2.70. *sigh* It is the same serigala story. I just hope to see that cloud with silver lining soon.
Well, the fact that there are fewer cars on the road is already a silver lining! The fact that people are not going out that much and staying home can be another silver lining…for they MAY be spending quality time with the family!!!…..There’s a difference between “can’t see” and “not seeing”.

In Sibu, you don’t have to worry too much about fuel prices. The town is quite small and places are nearby. In Kuching, it’s a different story! Now, I have to pump at least RM80 for a full tank compared to about RM60. Terrible! Imagine asking us civil servants to work part time as taxi drivers, gardeners and whatever else.
Indeed, we are lucky. Sibu is so centralised…and there is some sense, it seems, in the fact that the Foochows would squeeze into every available place so as to have their houses near the town…rather than to spread out. Everything is near…and in the town centre, within walking distance. Civil servants working part-time? They’ve been doing that to make ends meet for a long, long time now…in places like KL because of the high cost of living…driving taxis, operating food stalls (and teachers give private tuition).

in big town… it’s the same…
Fewer cars on the roads? No jam!!! Great!!! Gosh! How I hated the jams in KL!!!! Once I would avoid going there for holidays because of the jams…and the cut-throat taxi drivers!!! Would rather go to Kuching, Sabah, even Malacca (took a cab there from KLIA)….and Singapore!!!

but then sibu ppl drive like so damn slow leh… they take their sweet time in everything on the road.. very annoying sometimes.. in kl where got like that… but the traffic jams in kl can kill seriously.. 5 mintues punya journey in sibu can even take 1 blardy hrs or more in kl during rush hours.. krayzee man
More haste, less speed…slow and steady wins the race…biar lambat, asal selamat…Sibu is SO small, so what’s the hurry? 5 minutes…you can get from one part of the town to another! Except when you have to go to the airport, that is!!!…(The problem is NOT the speed but how the idiots hog the road!!! Move to the slow lane, damn it!!! And signal when u change lanes!!!)…..I usually go at 40 kmph, or the fastest, 60!!!! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!! Highway Star hor!

Cold Storage opened its doors for business here in Kuching today, and judging by the number of people visiting, the fuel hike seems to be the new normal. I had to plan my trip, and it sure looks like all car trips need to be planned out properly now, can’t just get into the car and whizz off.
FYI, Cold Storage Green Heights did not disappoint. Lots of goodies and one can almost try most of Nigella Lawson’s recipes now. It’s rather pricey though. It’s okay to indulge every once in a while, eh?
*Back to eating Ben&Jerry’s frozen yogurt*
I saw!!!! In the papers, roast chicken RM9.90 a bird only!!!! Humph!!! Must be like Giant’s…nothing to shout about!!! Hahahahahahaha!!!!!

I tried those roast chickens in Giant many years ago, it wasn’t memorable, and I’ve not had it since. They don’t look all that great, and my roast chickens are definitely nicer.
At least we can now get fresh pastas (a few varieties including raviolis, gnnochis, tortelinis), fresh herbs, fresh brown/white and portobello mushrooms. Plus, I saw gooseberries! Tonite we shall have poached salmon, and gnnochi for dinner. My daughter will love me more…hahahaha.
Oooo…Drool! Drool! How come we always have to eat out in Kuching? Hint! Hint! LOL!!!

Yes, it is the same here in KK.. less cars on the road, the traffic jam is not so bad. My significant other told me that the road were deserted during the weekend, cars was almost non-existence at the parking space in Damai when he went there to get my medicine from a particular pharmacy. I have yet to see this weekend since I was cooped up at home for being sick for the last two weekends hehe..
Looking on the bright side, that’s something good…for the environment at least!

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I remember what my grandpa used to tell me about rice. Each grain is worth 50 sen. How prophetic!
Gee! And his time, 50 sen would be worth quite a lot, wouldn’t it?
